Environmental Management Plan for Victoire Village, Kurnell Peninsula.

Environmental Management Plan Overview

An Environmental Management Plan is a specific plan developed to implement the correct practices and procedures are followed during the construction and operation of the development. It involves the application of the identified methods for controlling environmental concerns. The EMP ensures the development complies with any conditions and legislation requirements outlined in the Environmental Impact Assessment. The plan ensures risks involved in construction and development are correctly managed.

Compilation of measures to mitigate adverse effects.

Many of the concerns listed here are shared by National Parks, the Office of Environment and Heritage and The Department of Primary Industries. It has been identified that development could potentially impact on ground water levels and flow of groundwater. The construction phase could cause waterlogging through digging activities, and also erosion to the beach. As such maximum digging levels will be set, and the development will seek to operate well above the water table, which will be closely monitored during development to ensure minimal changes occur. WSUD principles later mentioned would assist in mitigating any damage caused to ecosystems by run-off and stormwater.

Increased traffic to the beach may place the beach at risk of erosion. The Kurnell Peninsula is home to a large group of dunes, some of which are heritage listed, these dunes support a range of significant ecological communities such as she-oak, scribbly bark, smooth-barked apple and red bloodwood communities. ... of the eco village as well as for existing residents, and the planting of vegetation will assist in creating a buffer zone. The development is designed to be low density in nature, and as such is designed to permit sufficient distance between dwellings, both pre-existing and those being proposed. The low density nature of the development should not change light levels in pre existing residences

Existing residents have identified the potential for noise pollution whilst construction is occurring. To assist in elevating any fears, construction would be undertaken only over set hours and will be monitored to ensure compliance with any mitigation measures. A buffer zone will also be constructed. Through the use of vegetation noise levels associated with construction and road use, noise levels can be reduced by 3-7 dB and visual impacts reduced. (Arenas 2008 p. 175)
