Language as the corner stone of conversation and dialog, is considered a medium that enables individuals to make shared meanings. Many people seek out a way to learn a second language. In the information age, English language grasps peoples’ attention because of its global use. English language is considered the key to connect people to each other as well as to knowledge. Many people come to western countries specifically to learn English language. According to National Center for Education Statistics (2014), the percentage of English language learners in public school was 9.1 present in 2011-12. From an early age, people learn how to cry, sleep, eat, walk, etc. All of these innate needs do not require a Harvard certificate or certain kind of people to do them. In human history, knowledge has an extended and steady shelf-life. From one time to another, the resources of learning and knowledge were changing differently. People invented schools, colleges, universities to expand knowledge and educate the society. Mostly, students receive knowledge that was constructed in academic settings. Knowledge depends on learning resources such as books, videotapes, and scientific laboratories. Learning resources experience different periods of modification to fit peoples’ needs. Today, traditional education that requires a teacher’s present in a classroom is going to disappear on short notice because students obtain knowledge not in a traditional learning pedagogies. The continuous development of technology, worldwide, provides individuals with an opportunity to transfer from a traditional lifestyle- one in which modern technology does not play a pivotal role in daily life- to an electronic environment – or one in which the digital devices play a paramount role in personal and social development. Since their introduction, mobile computing devices have become highly popular. Not just in English speaking countries, such as the U.S. but in countries all over the world. Because English is the language driving the digital age, the demand to learn English for non- English speaking persons has increased substantially. The digital age increases the chance of a higher standard of living, thus, everybody wants to learn the language of opportunity. They seek to improve primary skills: reading, speaking, writing, and listening in the English language. The reading comprehension is considered an issue for English as a second language learners (ESL). In the education settings, teachers use different learning theories to develop reading comprehension of ESL students. In the current digital era, there is a learning theory direction which seek to improve reading skill called the connectionist model or connectivism.
