Original write down as a Declaration of Rights, and taking place on December 16, 1689 in England the English Bill of Rights was transcribed. The English Bill of Rights was transcribed on behalf of the rich lords that wanted more rights then what they received under the Magna Carta. (Carr) King William and Queen Mary were the rulers of England at this time and took rather reasonable toward this occurrence. The laws set forth in the English Bill of Rights gave more rights to the Lords, Parliament and the everyday common man, taking more power away from the King and Queen. Even though it did not really give rights to the common people at the time it set things up for one day the common people getting power at one time.
The English Bill of Rights was set in motion because the rich lords of England wanted more power and to make sure the Kings and Queens did not get absolute power like that of Louis XIV of France (Carr). Norton and Company: 1: By assuming and exercising a power of dispensing with and suspending of laws and the execution of laws without consent of Parliament. 2: By committing and prosecuting divers worthy prelates for humbly petitioning to be excused from concurring to the said assumed power. 3: By causing several good subjects being Protestants to be disarmed at the same time when papists were both armed and employed contrary to law. 4: By raising and keeping a standing army within this kingdom in time of peace without consent of Parliament, and quartering soldiers contrary to law. 5: By violating the freedom of election of members to serve in Parliament. These are just a few of the laws that were set for by the English Bill of rights that were approved and recognized by the King and Queen at the time King William and Queen
