Date Rape

Why would a man force a woman to have sex? A lot of this has to do with how we raise our gender groups. Boys are brought up thinking they are strong and aggressive while on the other hand, girls are brought up being passive. This shouldn’t happen in my eyes I feel like we need to teach women to defend them self’s at a young age and how to avoid being a victim of date rape. After researching articles regarding date rape, I have found the definition, how to prevent rape, and how to bring awareness to date rape
Over the years, the numbers of drug-facilitated sexual assault has increased dramatically. These assaults are more commonly known as “date rape,” and are more prevalent in the United States than many other countries. Although it is a serious crime that causes significant psychological effects to victims, it is known to be one of the most unreported crimes as it exhibits multitudinous numbers, even after accounting for the 100,000 crimes that are reported each year. Date rape is not defined the same as rape, as victims usually have been acquainted beforehand and doesn't necessarily involve physical injury. About 90% of rapes go unreported, because there are many women that do not receive any justice. In fact, one forcible rape occurs every six minutes (FBI clock, 2011). The existence of violence in a case does not predetermine the validity whether a person has or has not been raped.
