The Great Gatsby: Chapter Five
In chapter five of The Great Gatsby, Gatsby And Daisy reunite after being apart from each other for five years that signifies the beginning of their affair. In the film adaptations of this classic novel the director either succeeds by including all of the aspects of chapter five of The Great Gatsby or fails to include all of the aspects from chapter five into their film version of The Great Gatsby. A perfect example of different aspects is the novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald and the 2000 film by A&E that stars Toby Stephens, Mira Sorvino, Paul Rudd, and Martin Donovan that was directed by Robert Markowitz.
In the beginning of chapter five, Gatsby shows Nick around his house. In the A&E film, Robert Markowitz excluded Gatsby showing Nick around his house, Nick calling Daisy to tell her not to bring Tom to Gatsby’s when she comes over for tea, and Gatsby putting his house together before …show more content…

In the A&E film, Daisy and Gatsby danced with each other to no music in one of Gatsby’s many rooms whereas in chapter five of The Great Gatsby; Gatsby and Daisy dance together in Gatsby’s music room to “The Love Nest” played by Mr. Klipspringer.
The remaining difference between chapter five of The Great Gatsby and part 5 of the A&E film is how Daisy walked into Gatsby’s room, took off her hat, and started brushing her hair with his brush and handing Gatsby the cuff link that she gave him in the flashback when they were together five years ago. In chapter five, Daisy did not brush her hair with Gatsby’s brush and the only mention of a cuff link in The Great Gatsby is Mr. Wolfsheim’s cuff buttons made of human molars that were mentioned in Chapter Four when Nick had met Mr. Wolfsheim at Gatsby’s
