The athletic director position is not an easy job. Sometimes their schedules last from seven in the morning to midnight. Depending what was planned throughout the day. Being an athletic director at the high school level or at the collegiate level the job is demanding and time consuming. A lot is effort is put into every task that there is needed to complete. From making sure the football team has a correct schedule for their season to making sure there is no violations that is occurring within the teams. An athletic director has many responsibilities organizing events, setting an example for students, but also faculty. According to Cylkowski (1988), “The collegiate athletic director must also be a fund raiser, a politician, and a personnel administrator” (p. 29). A collegiate athletic director has to know what he is going to face in the present, and future. Though, sometimes his actions can have a great effect of the situation. Stress is a major emotion an athletic director feels. They stress everything and everybody. “Finances, personnel, outside influences, and public relations were greatest factor of stress for an athletic director” (Humphrey, Yow, & Bowden, 2000). The athletic director goes through these challenges every day to complete his objectives to have successful programs. Each athletic director has to go through the finance thought of making sure each program have the necessary equipment, but within budget. Also you have to make a decision if whether or not a program needs to be cut due to budget issues, or making the decision of budget cuts for another program so everything can remain the same. The AD tries to come up with ideas or help an organization to fund raiser for their program and help them meet their goal some
