An argumentative essay is a fundamental type of paper for all writers. It that states a writer’s side of said argument. This claim would consist of the writer’s opinion and would have to be supported with evidence. In an argumentative essay about how people determine there core values writers experience many obstacles. These obstacles can seem insurmountable at times but with the help of a writing process it can be a little easier. This process starts when a claim is made. The claim is an opinion that a writer has on a topic such as people determine their core values through self-awareness. A claim can be disputed and argued over. Someone else can dispute this and say no people determine their core values through living life and using them as a guide. Without a strong claim the entire paper will fall apart. This is why it is important to thank carefully on what the claim is going to be. It is important early on that the writer knows their audience. These strategies will help in finding evidence to support the claim. The brainstorming process can include putting your ides into a bubble chart and working outward in a natural order. Free writing in a steady flow of consciousness with out pausing helps the writer get started even if they are not the best ideas. Researching is used when the writer’s insight is not enough to back up their claim and they need further evidence. Building on the idea that people determine there core values through self-awareness pre writing would delve deeper into why the writer believes it to be true. For example the writers brainstorming would contain that people need to be introspective clarify the difference between values and core values, and the premise for a counter argument.
