High school graduates are often faced with a very important question, if they are going to attend college. All the counselors are pushy for these teens to start applying to colleges, but a more common question is if all Americans should attend college. As time goes on, many careers are requiring degrees making teens forced to attend college. Most of Americans know that college can be expensive but in the long run it will be worth it. Americans should go to college because a better education leads them to a better future, jobs may require degrees and the outcome of higher paying jobs will increase the economy.

Higher wages will mean more money in people’s pockets to spend, increasing the economic growth. College is also a time where many students have the liberty to socialize and meet new people. By meeting new people, it expands connections for future inquiries. One of the student pointed out, “If you want to land a good internship, she learned, you must put yourself out there” (Hoover). This proves that a degree is not worth anything without good communication skills. Communication skills can be improved by connecting with different students. College also teaches you how to navigate in such a fast-growing society. In “College’s Value Goes Deeper Than the Degree,” Eric Hoover had real statements from students that attended college. Hoover then stated, “Without a bachelor’s degree, Ms. Knecht figures, she wouldn’t have been considered for the job. Many of her colleagues have master’s degrees or Ph.D.’s. Moreover, she believes college prepared her for day-to-day challenges” (Hoover). This statement also proves that many are already aware that without further education a job may be out of reach.
