A 16 year old girl got her driver's license and the next day was never able to drive again because she killed herself in a car accident from drinking and driving. People think that drinking and driving is not always that bad, but the people that lose someone in a car accident will realize how bad it is. Even though texting and driving is against the law, sadly some people still do it. There are reasons why people do it, statistics (bad idea vs good idea), and ways to prevent it.
Drinking and driving is a life or death situation. So why do people still do it? Controlling yourself when you are drunk can be difficult. Most people don’t entensionaly drink and drive. They know it is not a good decision but then when you are intoxicated you don’t always make the best choices. Some people that do end up dying are not even drunk. The age groups for drinking and driving may vary. Out of the people in the world that drink and drive thirty-one of them are 18-19 year olds. Fifteen percent of them are 20-36 year olds. Then the sixty-two percent of them are 37-52 year olds. 3 There are so many people that die a year from drinking and driving. In 2012 there were 10,332 people that died. That seems like a lot of people but the numbers have increased dramatically throughout the years. In 2016 there were 10,950 people that died from drinking and driving. When you get behind the wheel after having too much to drink, you're not only putting your own life in danger, but you're jeopardizing the safety of everyone else on the road, too. When you have had too much to drink, you are not only putting yourself in danger but everyone else around you. Sadly there are so many people that die a year from drinking and driving, but there are ways to prevent it. 4 5
