When water pollution occurs it damages the economy & can be expensive to treat & prevent from contamination. Some wastes are too big enough to break down and so are accumulated in the earth’s water & eventually makes it way to the earth’s ocean. The pollution can be prevented in a number of ways by stopping the pollutants by contaminating the nearby waters such as the use of biological filters, chemical additives & sand filters. We are focusing on chemical water pollution so in that case we would be looking to use chemical additives. These methods are costly to maintain but are cheaper when compared to the cost of the clean up of pollution which depends on various factors such as; the location, the size of the contamination & the type of pollutant. Oil spills are the biggest troublesome chemical pollution on water. Many cases of oil spills have occured in Canada & big ones such as the Exxon Valdez which occured just off the coast of Alaska.
