1. Prior to entering into the field of special education, I served as a teacher within the regular public primary school system. This experience has provided me with some background knowledge, which allows me to relate to possible strengths and challenges within the general education inclusive setting. I believe that with a collaborative effort and the encouragement of a positive school climate and school culture, much can be achieved for the success of all students

Differentiated teaching methods were a significant aspect of my special education training. Much focus was placed on this technique to demonstrate its benefit to students and to provide teachers with an arsenal of teaching techniques and methods to tackle the challenges faced by struggling students. With adequate training and support, it would be a privilege to learn from other experienced teachers and members of a well-established multi-disciplinary team I look forward to sharing the skills that I have learnt with parents, teachers and other professionals who are willing to provide students with a better opportunity to succeed. …show more content…

Identification, prevention and early intervention, planned by a network of professional agencies can prove to be a very effective. I am of the view that this proactive initiative is destined to yield much favourable results.

Professional development, at all levels is a powerful strategy in addressing social, emotional and behavioral issues among students. Our ever changing social environment, in which we are all affected, requires us to be well informed about new techniques and research methods that are applicable to the context in which we operate.
