This big trend has influenced all kinds of professions these days because people start to see the interconnections between each professions and realised the impact of one field on another. Even as everyone accepts this inclination, engineering remains a special one among all these areas because it is the foundation of the modern society, and it is the base for many other professions. On this trend, the word “responsibility” has become increasingly heavy for engineers. In my opinion, when people enjoy the benefit of the heavy responsibility from the engineers, they should also share some burden with them. That is, engineering ethics is not only a requirement for engineers, but a contract between the users of the product and the engineers. While engineers provide the best product for users, users should obey the contract and use the product in the right way. It is similar to what is expressed in the article that engineering is business-orientated profession, because in engineering, customers also need to follow the rules of the customers while producers sell them their products and expand their business. For instance, when building a bridge, the engineers will consider all kinds of possibilities that will cause the crash of this bridge. However, he might not be able to foresee that in twenty years, the mass of the trunks has tripled and a large number of drivers have also overloaded their cars. This happened a lot in China these years and have caused bridges to crash. Some engineers are blamed for not following the rules, and they are also criticised for not having any engineering ethics.
