Ender`s Game, by Orson Scott Card, follows Ender Wiggins and how he grows into a hero. Ender shows heroism throughout his endeavours in Battle School, he faces many trials to deserve the title of ‘Hero’. Ender`s descent into darkness, although in most stories is seem as a bad thing, is prefaced by his reasoning behind why he chooses to, he shows traits of a hero. Thirdly, his arsenal of weapons, along with how he uses them truly sets his heroic nature in stone. All heroes must display many traits and overcome perilous obstacles to deserve his reputation as a hero, Ender Wiggins displays all the requirements to be a great hero. Ender faces trials all throughout his journey, he is given choices that will not only affect himself, but possibly all of humanity. Ender has many goals to achieve throughout the story, but first he must overcome the trials given to him. He must first overcome his brother, Peter, the Giants Drink, and finally the adults who run the Battle School (Card 80). After Ender completes all his trials and reaches the final goal, he has shown how he is able to behave like a hero even when his journey becomes difficult or even impossible. Throughout the book Ender does not want to become a killer like his brother, and after Ender does turn into the monster that he swore not to become he decides to separate himself from the people he could hard. “I`m a murderer … Peter would be proud…” (Card 65). Although the hero leaving their journey is usually a bad thing, Ender`s descent is justified y the fact that he is doing it for the safety of others. Ender doesn`t want to become a villain and to avoid that he leaves battle school.
