Eminem has been all over the place throughout his rap career. He is considered to be a lyrical genius. In his earlier stages, he tended to rap about very negative things. One of the many topics that were incorporated into his songs, was murder. However, he also rapped about some very positive things. Thus, in essence, making him a very controversial rapper. Roughly three weeks ago, Eminem released a new song that contained no music. Just solely lyrics. The song was about his hatred and opposition of Trump. Many people have different stances on this song. Some believe that Eminem is reverting back to his old self, while believing that this song has a strong negative influence. However, others believe that this song was necessary. Personally, I agree with Eminem’s …show more content…
I approve of Eminem’s decision to release a rap video regarding Trump’s policies. I’ve never cared much about politics, but I can’t help but oppose Trump. Especially, after becoming aware of the things that Trump’s policies. Eminem had the boldly took a stand against Trump. Using his publicity and fame, he filmed a video that addressed all the issues with Trump’s presidency. By doing so, he essentially promotes awareness of world-wide issues toward his fan-base and the general population. Thus, giving non-Trump supporters a voice. In the video, Eminem says, “...you’re a spoiled little brat for, tryna use your platform or your stature, to try to give those a voice who don’t have one” (YouTube, “Eminem…”). However, this does not hinder Eminem from doing so anyway. In addition, Eminem begins listing the entirety of Trump’s incompetent abilities. For example, he begins with, “That’s an awfully hot coffee pot, should I drop it on Donald Trump? Probably not” (YouTube, “Eminem…”). By beginning the video with this line, the
Tupac Shakur was one of the most influential music artist of the 20th Century. “Murda, Murda, Murda, and Kill, Kill, Kill…” these are they lyrics to one of the songs written by Tupac Shakur. Amidst all the controversy surrounding his personal life, this artist has managed to overcome all obstacles and spread his hope/hate message to a surprisingly receptive audience. Tupac’s music is borrowed from the styles of early rap and hip-hop yet its appeal rested in Tupac himself. His persona of “Thug Poet” opened up a portal into the new genre of “Gangsta Rap.” This new style of music revolutionized the music industry and allowed several new artists to break through in Tupac’s creation, Gangsta Rap, such as; G-unit, Eminem, and many others.
Eminem, born as Marshall Mathers, has proven that with a lot of desire, drive and dedication, anybody can accomplish even their greatest of goals. Eminem was raised in the ghettos of East Detroit. He was bullied and victimized by other students in school. He worked to achieve his goal, against the odds. As a result, what he has become is one of America's most popular and successful music artists.
Eminem a Detroit kid rapping in just a whole in the wall place with a ambition to make it in a rap career when everyone in his family counting on him, but nobody believing in him. He was one of the only white rappers in a black community growing up and trying to make it. “What comes around goes around” is a quote from eminem when people would try to bring him down and not believe in him anymore. eminem has changed the era of white rappers before him there were no good white rappers and he is still very successful today as a rapper. eminem uses his daughter as motivation a lot and raps about her in most if not every one of his songs. Growing up for biggie wasn't much different, he had gang members trying to fight him everyday because of the life that he chosen. It was...
Unlike those previously mentioned, Eminem took a different approach which was to become the bully. This is Eminem’s downfall because he let the actions bullies would do to him turn him into to them. Rather than being a better person and telling an adult, he took a different approach a got pay back by attacking the bully. MORE. CONCLUSION SENTENCE.
...nd doesn?t necessarily reflect the artist. Eminem has never raped anyone or killed anyone, but when he raps about it, it is just the way he feels at the moment sometimes but never engages in the action.
This is not only inappropriate but sexist. According to the article by “debate.org”, in many songs the male singers talk about having many girls. They often talk of what they would do to them and etcetera. One of the most impacting songs yet, is Eminem’s song “KIM”. In this song, he cusses many times, calling his cheating wife inappropriate words. He tells her to either be quiet, or he will beat her until she can’t anymore. In this song, he speaks of killing her, watching her bleed to death while she screams out for help. THIS is what our youth is listening to. My opponents would say that rap music does not affect youth. As stated in the article by Word Generation, “Still others say that rap is a form of creative expression- this generation’s poetry.” However, the “poetry” they say is being “expressed” is not talking about things that contribute to a person and somehow helps them in their daily lives. As stated by the “debate.org” article, these songs’ lyrics are often meaningless, and simply don’t make sense. This shows that since all rap is contributing to society is aggression, usage of woman, smoking, prostitution, killing, and dropping out of school, what is really the point of this
Tupac Shakur was well known for positive lyrics in his music, but unfortunately had a life riddled with controversies and run-ins with the law. His history with the judicial system and the way he lived his life could not be covered up by the positivity themes his songs conveyed. Many of Shakur’s real life occurrences completely contradict the lyrics of his songs. Although he may have had a “do as I say, not as I do” mentality, and his songs were mostly uplifting and encouraging, he did not live up to those messages.
...ofound impact on the African American community in the United States. Rappers want to make people aware of the obstacles faced in urban society. Although the media reports the crime and violence, the rapper gives an overall view of the negative, as well as trying to produce the positive. The violence, sex, and drugs come with the rap music because that was apart of the lifestyle that the artist lives. Rap music educates people on what really goes on in some urban communities. Before people judges rap music, they should take the time to listen and try to understand what they are saying. It will be educating.
He starts off by asking if you ever loved someone so much you would give an arm for: “Have you ever loved someone so much, you'd give an arm for?, Not the expression, no, literally give an arm for?,” Even though “I will give my right arm” is a common expression to describe how you are willing to do anything to protect someone, Eminem means it literally, he has a picture of Hailie tattooed on his arm as if he has dedicated that arm to her. “When they know they're your heart and you know you were their armor, and you will destroy anyone who would try to harm her,” Eminem protects his daughter, his daughter is his emotional center and the person he wants to protect. It establishes that she’s the heart and he’s the armor. We can see that Eminem loves his daughter a lot but says that the crazy things he does aren’t done by him they are done by his crazy alter-ego ‘Slim Shady’. Also says that ‘Slim Shady’ is the reason of his fame and everything he has. “That's Slim Shady, yeah baby, Slim Shady's crazy Shady made me…” But this song doesn’t come from the ‘Slim Shady’ perspective, this is the Real Marshall Mathers talking. Everything he talks about is honest and coming from deep down his heart, expressing a lot of
Although art can sometimes impede the development of human society, the majority of the time, art will benefit and improve humanity. A lot of people did find Eminem offensive, but then again, more people loved him that hated him. They find him to be one of the greatest rappers of all time, and although he may be hated on because of his art, more people love him because of his art, and how talented he is as an artist.

Tupac Shakur was a lyrical genius when it came to rapping his feelings about subjects, he was one of the bestselling music artists of all time (Rolling Stone) and yet he was taken from us too early at the young age of 25 while partying in Las Vegas. This story is one that shows how a young musician with so much talent can be taken into the rap culture and enveloped by it, towards the end of his life Shakur produced hundreds of songs ensuring that after his death records would be released for many years. Some say he was crazy and some say he was just misunderstood but either way Tupac was an artist that changed the rap game and continues to influence bilingual rappers to the current day. Eminem came from poverties that many would not succeed from. Many doubted Eminem for becoming a rapper because of his color, lack of lyrical skills, and lifestyle. It even accumulated when he dropped out of high school and pursued his rapping career. He never believed of failure which motivated him to engineer his own long rhyming skills. He used his own adversities to inspire his songs which many consider masterpieces. His daughter Hailey made a great contribution towards his career as he wanted to flourish in her eyes and give all he had never had. Eminem has changed the interface of rap music and has generated a new era of rap which he will be considered as the ‘Greatest Rapper of All Time’.
...it song “Lose Yourself” exemplifies the use of poetry in lyrics that many rappers have been known to implement into their craft. The uses of these particular techniques allow Eminem and many other rappers to creatively deliver their music to their audience in the form of a message, which usually involves encouraging their audience to reach for their dreams no matter the circumstance. He shares with his audience the possibility of reaching your dreams and achieving success, while also encouraging them take risks that could lead to amazing results. Eminem includes common elements of poetry and manages to bend them in his favor in order to effectively deliver an inspiring message.
encourage the listeners to engage in anti-social behavior, such as using drugs. In a story reported by CNN in February of 2001, London police officials were investigating whether rapper Eminem provoked British youth to use Ecstasy at one of his shows in Manchester, England. Although a lawsuit was never filed, the degree that rappers make illicit drug references in their lyrics, like Eminem’s “My mom smokes more dope than I do,” obviously has an influence on society. Celebrities are a powerful influence on some people because of their social position and their economic situation. Some members of society idolize and even imitate celebrities because of the media, ...
