Singer,Actor,King are three words that tell you who Elvis Presley is. Many people know that Elvis Presley was a singer,but did so much to contribute to the world. As a well known singer,and actor,Elvis Presley inspired society that they can be themselves and change if themselves feel it is wrong or change if they want to. He left a lasting legacy as the King of Rock’n’Roll and his music shook the world.
The early life of Elvis Presley was very rocky. He was born in the middle of the Great Depression and his parents Vernon and Gladys Presley were very poor. His childhood was good, he was born in Tupelo,Mississippi and when he went to school he took a guitar his parents gave him. Elvis Presley has always been and will always be known as the King of Rock’n’Roll. The Colonel thought that Presley needed a band so Presley joined a band,later on the band would quit due to RCA not giving them a raise. Presley did many things, he starred in 32 films he made 784 songs and had 18 no.1 singles (Matthews 51). Elvis Presley’s songs were said to break the racial and cultural boundaries of the world. In 1954,Elvis Presley met a girl named Dixie Locke. After a few songs,Presley got a call saying he was drafted into the Army. He won two medals,his marksman and his sharpshooter with his pistol. Elvis Presley’s training focused on him being a tank gunner. Presley didn’t share his political view,but a reporter said “He was already doing what the Civil Rights was demanding,breaking down barriers”. Richard Nixon was so enthralled with Elvis Presley’s style that he wanted to meet him. Presley’s way of things intimidated the FBI and called him “A threat to the security of the United States”. In many of Elvis’s shows,police had to escort him so the fans would not mob him. A street was named after Elvis called Elvis Presley Boulevard . After the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr, Elvis sang a song tributed to him,and America loved it.
