According to Miriam-Webster Dictionary a hero is defined as a person who is admired for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. Everybody has a hero as children. For example, Superman, The President, and many others have been known to be obvious childhood heroes, but one hero who goes unrecognized very often is Eli Cohen. Cohen is a hero because he is intrepid and selfless.
Cohen was born on December 26, 2014 as the child of two Egyptian Jews. After living whole life being harassed by the Muslim Brotherhood, at age 22 he finally decided to move to the recently established state of Israel. In Israel, the Israeli secret service, or MOSSAD, recruited Cohen and gave him katsa, or field agent title. Because of his recruitment, Cohen had no time to go to college, but he did go to MOSSAD training school. Once he settled in Israel, he had three children with his wife Nadia. Cohen’s work at MOSSAD entitled that he traveled a lot and that meant he didn’t know his children too well. His most famous assignment was as a double agent in Syria. The Intel he recovered was one of the main causes in Israel’s victory in the Six Day War. Cohen died May 18, 1965. He was hung publically after his cover was blown while transmitting messages back to the Israeli army from Syria.
One act that portrays Cohen as heroic is in 1960 when he went undercover as a double agent in Syria. Immediately Cohen trained and started developing a cover story. He posed as a business and formed ties with high officials in the Syrian government. While doing most of his work in Damascus, Cohen recovered an abundance of Intel that was the main reason Israel won The Six Day War so quickly. He was successful because that was his main purpose from the start. This ...

A hero is a man who, in the opinion of others, is greatly admired for his brave deeds and fine qualities. A hero is a man who, in the opinion of others, is greatly admired for his brave deeds and fine qualities. In Schindler’s List directed by Steven Spielberg, Oskar Schindler is regarded as a great hero amongst many Jews regardless of the fact that he is a German Nazi, because he saves the generations and lives of 1,200 Jews during the Holocaust. The Holocaust was the systematic mass murder of about 6 million Jews and millions of others during World War II that was taken place in Nazi Concentration Camps, under the German Nazi regime. In the midst of this brutal time period, Oskar Schindler finds the heart to undergo a change from being the mere pragmatic, rich man to becoming the virtuous, good man who helps save Jews. But rather than a benefactor, Oskar Schindler was more of a self-motivator who set goals upon his own visions and dreams, and one who undertook goals to have them achieved into reality. We see this characteristic in Schindler being brought forth when he works toward his goal in becoming rich, when he influences some of his self motivation on Goeth, and when Schindler approaches toward his newly changed goal in saving Jews.
...ards Jews and creating holocaust. There is no doubt that the things that he did were terrible and we should never let someone do it again but his story could be inspirational for many people if we imagine that it is for a good purpose.
In the end, Frank Foley saved thousands of Jews. He was very successful. He was a good man.
What is a hero? A hero can be classified as a number of things. A hero can be a person who in the opinions of others has heroic qualities or has performed a heroic act and is regarded as a model or ideal. Ervin Staub, a holocaust survivor from Hungary and as scholar on altruistic behavior, has written, "Goodness like evil often begins in small steps. Heroes evolve; they aren't born. Very often the rescuers make only a small commitment at the start, to hide someone for a day or two. But once they had taken that step, they begin to see themselves differently, as someone who helps. What starts as mere willingness becomes intense involvement." The business man, Oskar Schindler, demonstrated a powerful example
Hero. Usually when this word is heard we think of Superman, Batman, Iron man and so on, but in reality what exactly is a hero? Who can be classified as heroic? From my perspective a hero is not only someone who wears a cape, has superhuman strength, wears fancy clothes or someone who saves his lady from the bad guy; however he is someone who stands for strength, bravery, humbleness, justice and equality. I believe a hero is someone who truly intends to make the world a better place for all people. He stands for what he believes in even though he may encounter danger and obstacle. We often watch movies with action heroes fighting for a good cause, but these heroes cause us ignore the real life heroes such as Cesar Chavez and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Cesar Chavez and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr are genuinely the definition of a hero.
Webster’s dictionary defines a hero as any man admired for his courage, qualities or exploits, especially in war. Some people attribute the term hero mostly to war. My personal definition of a hero is someone who takes a stand against evil or an unjust cause. The term hero can be applied to anyone, it isn’t necessary to save the world from explosion to be a hero. The act of standing up for a friend can also be called a heroic act.
According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary a hero is an individual who is admired for great bravery or fine qualities. To me a hero is so much more than a person who shows great bravery. When I think of a hero many fine qualities come to mind; intelligence, courage, altruism, compassion and great bravery.
A hero is a person who cedes to benefit others. Through many complications that were faced they stood up with the greatest bravery. Welles Crowther is a great example of a hero who sought to help the other people in the World Trade Center during 9/11. Though he could’ve saved himself he tried to save others. Though he lost his life he inspired others to help others in need. Ling Young says,”He said,”I’m going back up again.” Cause he knows that there were a lot of people still up there on the 78th floor that needed help (“The Man in the Red Bandana”). Though he could have saved
Webster’s New World dictionary gives one definition of a hero as “the central figure in any important event or period, honored for outstanding qualities.” Anyone you ask can name someone they view as their hero (from a parent, sports figure, fictional superhero, to a movie star). But very few people would actually define the word hero the same. A good general definition of a hero is a person who is idealized or admired for outstanding achievements, courage, bravery, noble qualities, and unselfish acts toward others (Goins, 2012). Heroes are inspirational role models to others because of their courage and selfless giving.
Mohammed Abdel Raouf Arafat al-Qudwa Al-Husseini, more commonly known as Yasser Arafat was the fifth of seven children born to a Palestinian textile merchant on August 24, 1929. According to Arafat and other sources, he was born in Jerusalem, however, French biographers, Christophe Boltanski and Jihan El-Tahri revealed in their 1997 book, Les sept vies de Yasser Arafat, that he was actually born in Cairo, Egypt, and that is where his birth certificate was registered. The Palestinian Academic Society for the Study of International Affairs also lists Arafat’s birthplace as Cairo. Ian Pacepa, a former Romanian intelligence official, disclosed that the KGB had invented a background for Arafat with a birthplace in Jerusalem.
Heroes come in all shapes and sizes and many do not choose a call to action but are instead compelled by their own personal convictions. Schindler did not intend to become a liberator when he made his way:
