In the book, Lord of the Flies, a group of young boys with a variety of age differences get stranded on an island and depend on each other to live. In a short amount of time they decided to elect Ralph, an older boy, as chief because they thought of him as a positive figure, he established the meaning of the conch for calling meetings. The conch was the closest thing to civilization they had in the book. For awhile they listened to Ralph, but then people started breaking off. There was Jack, another older boy who had wanted to run things in the beginning of the book, who had a group that wanted to be bad and do things the easy way. Then there was Ralph and his group who wanted to make rules and make a society. I believe in this book I see …show more content…

Right now, people are regretting electing Trump as our president because he has deceived people with how he is running the country. At first it was fun and games to elect an actor from Hollywood that everyone made a joke out of. Now people realize it was a huge mistake and they cannot take it back. People started protesting and rioting the streets when they heard Trump actually became president. They lost their sense of intelligence and logical thinking. This relates to how Ralph starts thinking in the book when Jacks tribe started turning into savages when he says “ You took Piggy’s specs you’ve got to give them back.” (Golding 176). Jack’s tribe started doing the same thing the trump protestors were doing. Savagery is fierce, violent, and uncontrolled; lacking the restraints normal to civilized human beings. There were many signs the boys showed when they were transforming into savages. Jack wanted to let the fire out at night because no one could see it, that slowly led to it just being let out all the time and all the rest of the boys didn’t care if Jack didn’t care. The war paint Jack wanted people to put on led them to believe, if they put on the war paint it was almost as if they were a different person and could do whatever they pleased. Their loss of innocence was the main point where all civilization had been lost. When they killed the pig it showed us how brutal and savage the boys became. For example, this quote is from the book when they killed their first pig,”Jack held up the head and jammed the soft throat down on the pointed end of the stick which pierced through into the mouth.
