I. Introduction
A. Throughout my journey in my career and college; becoming and defining myself as a leader is critical to my growth and success.
B. The purpose of my project is define what makes a leader and what role does a good leader play in everyday life. I defined a leader in my current field and analyzed what characteristics makes him a great leader.
C. The leader that I have chosen is Nike’s CEO Mark Parker. “Mark graduated from Penn State University and started at Nikes R and D lab as a shoe designer. Since 2006 he has helped increase Nike’s revenue up to 60%.”Mark helping increasing their revenue up to 60% really shows how much he is a leader.
D. A great leader strives to be great at whatever task they have at hand.

Business Management and District Manager
A. I chose the business management program because it directly relates to my intended career field as a district manager.
B. I expect to complete the business management program and obtain a bachelor’s degree in 2020.
C. In order for me to be successful in the business management filed I must have great “communication skills, be an excellent motivator, and have strong decision making skills. I must also be good at developing others and must know how to build strong relationships.”
III. Characteristics of an Effective Leader
A. An effective leader is someone who has great drive to accomplish all goals and tasks. “ A good leader has a purpose or means that is greater than he or she is.”
B. A good leader always has positive traits such as be “open minded, being honest, have self-confidence, and are ambitious.”
IV. Your leader/role model

These strengths are greatly beneficial to my overall success in my career because they allow me to be a better leader to others that I work with.
3. I know plan to use these strengths more than ever now; because I now realize how beneficial these are to an organization or career.
B. My areas of weakness that may get in the way of my success.
1. The only change that I may need to make is just become more open minded and not think that my way is the only right way.
2. I plan now to listen to all view points and start listing the pros and cons of each of choose my decision based on that list.
VI. Conclusion
A. My overall project will show what an effective leader is and also shows how my role model is the exact definition of an effective leader. My project will also show how I can use the skills to become better in my own career.
B. An effective leader not only cares about himself; but cares about the overall success of everything; and having an effective leader in an organization is vital for success.
C. I will now always try to become more of a leader than manager and I will start supporting others much more now than before. I will try to implement all of the leadership competencies in my career as often as I see
