Communication means passing information from one person to another. Effective communication is when communication is clear, precise and easily understood. Effective communication builds trust between individuals. When communication is clear, individuals understand exactly what is expected of them. Communication is knowledge sharing, so whoever you are communicating with can learn from you and you from them. Whoever you are talking to, (or communicating with by other means), must not get confused by the meaning of what you are saying, as to be understood clearly means that person will be positive in their actions. The more effective communication there is, the more information is shared, whether that be ideas, thoughts, problems or questions. Relationships are built on trust and a mutual respect. Everyone must be treated equally and fairly and there must be a willingness to listen, show attentiveness and share ideas and opinions with the person who you are communicating with, whether they be a small child, young person or adult. You must be considerate to the circumstances of the person you are communicating with and also try to remember issues which are personal to them that shows that you care about them. You must always take the time to listen when somebody speaks to you and share their concerns if they need you to, “a problem shared is a problem halved―. In the case of children specifically, as their language and communication is still developing, you must be clear when giving instructions so that they understand what they have been asked to do. A good way of testing this is by asking them to relay back to you what instructions you have given. I also think a good sense of humour and not taking yourself too seriously helps to build up
