Edgar Allan Poe and Ray Bradbury are very different in life, but they have a lot in common when it comes to writing. They both used their personal lives in their stories as themes. They also used the same style of writing, and focused on more supernatural and things that ordinary authors wouldn’t write about. They also used some of the same literary devices such as allusion, irony, foreshadowing, and imagery.
Edgar Allan Poe lived a very horrifying life. In his early childhood, his father left and his mother died when he was only three years old. He would write poetry on the back of newspapers, then later published some of his most famous works and became a literary sensation. Some stories Poe wrote are, The Tell Tale Heart and The Raven. In my opinion, I think that Edgar Allen Poe is a more skilled writer than Bradbury. He lived a horrible life, with many dark experiences during his childhood that he relates to in his writing. He often uses the style of a first-person narrator like in The Tell Tale Heart and The Black Cat. Poe makes it easy to explore the character's mind, and he doesn’t go much into detail about the character’s past either which makes the story more interesting to read. He writes about more horrifying things that Bradbury does, and I find that to be more interesting. Poe earned the respect as a gifted fiction writer, and poet.
