Economic principles are utilized in our day to day lives in an attempt to facilitate decision making. I am currently entering my last college semester and I must choose between three electives, Child Care development, Patient Health Education, and EMT first responder. Each elective has a variety of positive attributes that would benefit my academic path however, I am only eligible to choose one. In order to arrive at the best possible choice, I decided to utilize two economic principles. Patient Health Education ties directly into what I wish to do in my professional life. This elective would give me a better understanding of the information and technique’s when referring to patient information. This elective focuses on educating individuals on taking down a patient’s health history. It emphasizes the importance of recording any medication, treatments, and surgeries a patient previously underwent. This elective in my opinion is vital when majoring in the health care field. After listing the positives of all three options I came to the conclusion that each elective would be beneficial to my future which meant I would face a trade off despite my decision. According to this economic principle, every decision made faces a trade off. By choosing EMT first responder I will not only be gaining skills with dealing with trauma patients, but I will also be able to learn what to do in extreme situations with limited resources. Although Child Care development does specialize in child patients I feel as if I would be able to tie in what I’d learn in EMT more than Child development. After weighing out my options between Patient Health Education and EMT, I too decided that EMT would be the better choice. Learning to record a patient’s information is in fact essential, however after evaluating the positives and negatives of each class, I decided EMT would be a better trade off by allowing me to be exposed to real life
