ESPN: Portrayal of Sports on Television
Sports have played a big in role throughout the history of television. Without the television, sport fans would not be able to tune into NFL games on Sunday and Monday nights. They wouldn’t be able to sit at home and watch every basketball game played during March Madness. The television has given everybody around the world a chance to watch some of the biggest and best sporting events that have ever taken place. However, for a long amount of time there was no television show that was dedicated towards just sports. One would be able to find everything they wanted to know about sport statistics in magazines and newspapers but the public could not sit down on their couch and visually recap all of the major events that took place the last evening. ESPN changed how sports were portrayed on television forever.
ESPN debuted to 1.4 million homes at 7 p.m. Sept. 7, 1979 and it was from this point that television and sports history was about to be made (Faye). ESPN gave all sports fans a chance to view sports all week long 24/7. Before the only thing that people could view was what the local news clips of games but ESPN dedicated every week to sports. ESPN was an instant hit for that very reason and kept growing throughout the years.
Today ESPN has two networks ESPN and ESPN 2. Both of these are dedicate to sports attract many viewers. EPSN reaches 76.2 million homes while ESPN 2 reaches 65 million homes. ESPN is by far the biggest sporting network ever created on television (Faye). The show only started off with 70 employees and has now grown to 2100 employees (Faye). ...und. With the atmosphere of sports being such a huge role in peoples lives ESPN gives the sport fans a chance to get sporting news 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. For many this is the best thing that has happened since the television first premiered. Without the invention of the television ESPN as the public knows it would never be how it is today. Without ESPN a name such as Dick Vitale would not be what it is today and we would be stuck watching the 3 minute clips of sporting events on the local news. This show, ESPN, has emerged into the sporting king of television.

The works of William Shakespeare have been one of the diligent hotspots for adaptation and appropriation. We see dramatic adaptation of Shakespearean playtexts began as early as Restoration period. Different fields like poetry, novels, advertisements, and movies have connected themselves with Shakespeare as well. The adaptation of Shakespeare makes him fit for new social settings and distinctive political philosophies.
Do you think media coverage of the National Football League is fair? The media has been interfering with players personal life and it is not ok. Such as the incident with Johnny Manziel, Jerry Rice, and Adrian Peterson. Johnny Manziel committed domestic violence against his girl friend, Jerry Rice punched his girlfriend, and Adrian Peterson committed child abuse. In addition to those crimes there have been many more. These issues have all dealt with law breaking, and media tells the public. This is interfering with player careers, it’s putting pressure on the NFL, and also affecting many youth football leagues. The media coverage of the NFL’s problems is not fair because the NFL has bigger problems to worry about, players are leaving teams, and parents are not letting there kids play football.

The modernization of nearly outdated and cliché settings typically used for Shakespearian plays such as Much Ado helps enforce Whedon's attempt to make the film and play familiar, as well as creates accessibility for the audience regardless of how well they may understand Shakespeare's language. Both the ensemble and individual cast members assist in achieving Whedon's vision by creating an atmosphere that seems familiar if only that it could be our own family and friends throwing that same banter back and forth between each other. Sports in the United States are not only looked at as entertainment, but a way of life. Baseball once looked at as Americas pass time has taken a back seat. College football changed American culture by opening doors for masculinity, feminism, race diversity and the, disconnect between athletes and the general population.
ESPN is using a popular sports website used by thousands of people every day for entertainment. I believe ESPN is a credible source, because they back up their reports with facts. It can be accessed through internet, television, radio, or on mobile devices. A good sign that it is credible is there are not very many ads. The more ads on websites the more likely it is not a credible website.
The title of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing has sparked scholarly debates about its meaning for centuries. Some say it is a play on the term “noting”, revolving around the theme of all sorts of deceptions by all sorts of appearances (Rossiter 163). Others claim it has more to do with everyone making a fuss about things that turn out to be false, therefore, nothing (Vaughn 102). Regardless of these speculations, there is something rather profound going on in the play that is worth making a big deal about: four characters in the play learn about love, and eventually, how to love.
Transformations are altering certain thematic concerns of the original text, yet still retaining much of the storyline. The process of transformation requires some conscious decisions which shape and re-shape the meaning, and must be justified in order to execute them. . In William Shakespeare's short play Much Ado About Nothing, he focuses on the social standings and the roles of women in 16th Century Europe. The female protagonist of the play, Beatrice, understands the restrictions placed upon her by society and how these restrictions should limit her as a woman, but she inexorably escapes them by refusing to succumb to the unifying hand of marriage. Throughout the play, Shakespeare displays his profound respect for woman as independent individuals who are fully capable of making their own decisions and suffering their own consequences. Through the plot, he proposes the idea that women who deviate away from the passivity that society expects them to perform attain a more active role in the determination of their future. Contrary to the roles of women of the 16th Century, Shakespeare depiction of Beatrice's independence is symbolic of his stance on the progression and transformation of women's reputation in society.

During his life, William Shakespeare created many positive female characters who defied the traditional gender roles and brought attention to the misogynistic patriarchy of Elizabethan England. One of these true feminist icons is ‘Much Ado about Nothing’s. Beatrice. The women in ‘Much Ado about Nothing’ defy traditional gender roles. Beatrice represents a brave and outspoken woman who defies the oppressive, traditional gender roles for the female sex. Her cousin Hero, however, represents those women who were successfully oppressed by the patriarchy and accepted the traditional gender roles without much complaint.
A dystopian novel, such as Brave New World, is usually centered on the conflict between man and society. In this case, Aldous Huxley tells three compelling viewpoint from John the Savage, Bernard, and Helmholtz. Though each is distinct in their upbringing, each share the same path. While in the World State, each try to reach a level of satisfaction by their standards. Helmholtz, an intellectually superior Alpha, hopes to create compelling works of literature and spread his wisdom, whereas Bernard merely seeks social acceptance. And John the Savage, having been shunned by his community at the savage reservation and mother, aspires to find a sense of belonging in the new world. Each, however, meet the same fate; failure.
