Dysfunctional System Essay

Despite the idea of humans functioning on a dysfunctional system, there may still be some objections arguing for the goodness of these factors or how we are looking at the problem from an incorrect lens. One such a response could be that the mind and dysfunctional system are two separate things, and rather than this situation being purely mental processes, it could be a physical response. By thinking of the mind as a racecar driver and the system as a racecar with a blown-out tire it can be shown that humans are still perfectly functional, but the problem exists in the vehicle. While the driver may desire to steer the car in one direction, that broken wheel causes the car to go into a different direction. Therefore, the whole situation can …show more content…

These outputs are consistent across multiple different beings, and in the instance of dice rolling, even though the participants were aware of the situation they still made a problematic decision. So merely being aware of the problem, is not enough to incite change in the situation. It must be noted that even the best driver cannot win a race with a broken car because, despite being aware, the car is still broken. It follows that it would be wise for the driver to fix his car, but there still exists a problem. Humans have tried to become aware and fix the system, but the same errors are consistently made. This is analogous to the car driver being aware of his blown-out tire but being unable to leave the car to fix the problem. Thus, leaving the driver trapped inside instead to continue try to win a race. As a result, it is still the fault of the drive – if there is no capacity to fix the problem, either by solution or way to fix it, then the problem will continue to stand and negative outcomes will continue to be produced by …show more content…

For instance, two men are discussion pay for a future job. Knowing that whoever presents the first number will have the upper hand in the rest of the negotiating process they both decide to avoid the process by writing down the number without having any numerical input prior. In doing so, the two can avoid falling victim to the anchoring problem. When convicting a man of kidnapping, while it may not fit the heuristic of that crime, humans must be able to recognize that there was still a crime committed and the man needs to be punished. This can be done by finding a crime that more closely fits his actions or even changing the widely accepted believe and definition of the crime so as not to let men like this go free in the future. While initially the problems see bad, it can be used to create better in the
