Dwight D. Eisenhower’s childhood starts when he was born on October 14, 1890. At the age of six he marched in a parade for republican nominee William Mckinley. He is a mediocre student, he attended Lincoln school from grades 1-6. His favorite subjects were History and Plane Geometry. He attended west point 1911-1915 still an average student, his best subjects were engineering ordnance and gunnery.

General Eisenhower made difficult decisions that others may not have. The D-day invasion is well known for its successes given the almost impossible situation. If General Eisenhower did not make the decision to take Normandy the Allied campaign into Europe may not have succeeded. Moving into his presidency, Dwight Eisenhower came into a difficult time because of Soviet opposition. Douglas Macarthur was born on 26th January 1880, in Little Rock, Arkansas to General Arthur Macarthur and wife, Mary Pinckney Hardy. Like his father, he decided to pursue a military career and entered the army. He went to West Point Military Academy and graduated as a valedictorian in 1903. He began his career as an engineering officer in the army but climbed through the ranks and became a General. He was also nominated and given several honors and awards throughout his lifetime. He was known to be aggressive, radical and brave, which led him to make some decisions that were not generally approved (McCullough).
The Battle of Normandy was a turning point in World War II. Canada, America, and Great Britain arrived at the beaches of Normandy and their main objective was to push the Nazi’s out of France. The Invasion at Normandy by the Allied Powers winning this battle lead to the liberation of France and Western Europe. Most importantly Hitler’s was being attacked from both the eastern and western front, and caused him to lose power. He was also a huge factor in helping abolish discrimination. By signing the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Johnson made it clear that discrimination in the United States was coming to an end. Then, he signed the Voting Rights Act, which gave all Americans the right to vote regardless of a person’s race, a person’s color, or a person’s knowledge. After that, he abolished the poll tax which stated that citizens no longer had to pay a tax to go to the polls and vote for a president. He was also the president during the Vietnam War.
Eisenhower was born on October 14, 1890, in Denison, Texas. Growing up, he was the third of seven boys in a strict, religious family. In 1892, his family moved to Kansas where he spent the rest of his adolescent years. After being accepted into West Point in 1911, Eisenhower turned to sports to pass his time there. He joined the varsity football team, playing running back and linebacker (Banks 4). He graduated from West Point in the middle of his class, and with a less-than-average disciplinary rating. Six years after his graduation, he met his future wife Mamie Doud while stationed in Texas and married her in 1920.

He handled his time in office and the issues that came up while he was in office with great success. He is definitely one of the Greatest American Presidents in history.
Abraham Lincoln wrote one of the greatest speeches in American history known as the Gettysburg Address. It was not only used as a dedication to the fallen troops of the North and South, but as a speech to give the Union a reason to fight and attempt to unite the divided nation. The sixteenth president’s handling of his speech at Gettysburg demonstrated how the effectiveness of juxtaposition, repetition, and parallelism, could bring unity to a nation deeply divided on beliefs. His speech touched the hearts of many and indirectly put an end to the Civil War. Lincoln may have been considered a tyrant at the time but he was a great leader of a nation, a war, and a democracy.
When asked about Abraham Lincoln’s greatest accomplishment in the Civil War, most people would probably say “freeing the slaves”. While it is true, President Lincoln did have a lot to do with the emancipation of over millions of slaves, that is not necessarily his “greatest accomplishment”. Over the course of many years, President Abraham Lincoln made several significant contributions to the American Civil War.
Eisenhower was known for his military command and his D-Day leading role. He is well known for everything that he has done. First, Dwight joined the military school, which led him, to becoming a soldier. Eisenhower started out as the second lieutenant. However, his military accomplishments increased, leading to countless promotions, going to the first lieutenant, a major, and then an executive officer directly under a general’s command by the end of World War I. Dwight had son who was just a small child at that time, but unfortunately, the young son passed away. A year later, Dwight had a new son. Dwight was not done with his military career yet. Ike went on into yet another war, World War II. At that place, Dwight became a brigadier general and went up in rank to one of the top positions for a general. Dwight was in charge of D-Day, too, in which a large number of soldiers and ships were gathered for a single but extremely strong attack.
