Drunk driving penalties for the state of Texas should be stricter. Many innocent lives have been lost due to careless drivers. Alcoholics have an unclear mentality of the future possibilities and results that could come from it. Innocent loved ones have been injured due to these inexcusable decisions. Intoxicated drivers don’t realize the consequences they must pay, which leads to a higher possibility of these fatal accidents.
Driving under the influence of alcohol is a major problem in the United States. However, states with strict drunk driving penalties have a far lower incidence of accidents than Texas. The more intoxicated the driver is the more they become unable to safely get to a destination. Every year more and more innocent individuals are dying due to drunk driving collisions. These inexcusable circumstances have impacted numerous families.
There are plenty of other options that could be considered in order to avoid the reckless decision of driving while intoxicated. These days not only are there taxis but numerous uber drivers and useful dart busses that surround events with alcoholic beverages no matter what city. Therefore, there should be no excuse for an individual to feel as if driving drunk would be the only choice given.
In addition, I would include more information on repeat offenders and how the lessons were clearly not learned from the drivers first offense. Lenient consequences cause these certain individuals to continuously believe that it isn’t a big deal to attempt to drive intoxicated.
I will research the maximum penalties of DUI’s that are given in the state of Texas and what all should be added for assurance that the rate of these incidence will decrease. I will also use information consisting the difference of other states penalties and how their accident ratings are compared to
