Have you ever had a dream and wondered what it meant? While asleep, one tends to have around 3 to 7 dreams a night and dream around 2 to 3 hours in a whole night. The feeling of trying to remember one’s dream when they wake up is the process of interpreting their dream. Sigmund Freud stated, “The dream is the liberation of the spirit from the pressure of external nature, a detachment of the soul from the fetters of matter” (The Interpretation of Dreams). The many unanswered questions behind dreams lay behind the history of dreams, the types of common dreams, and what we may get out of the dreams. A very common occurring dream would be a “Falling Dream”, where according to Mood Dreams (2014) one is falling from a cliff, a building, a rooftop, an airplane or from some higher ground. A falling dream may suggest loss of control. When one is falling they have no control and have nothing to hold on too. Being overwhelmed, perhaps in school, in your work environment, in your home life or maybe in your personal relationship, may result with one losing their foothold and won’t be able to keep up with the demands of their daily life. Falling also suggests insecurity. Falling in one’s dream means they are lacking some sense of security, stability and confidence. The feeling of not being sure where one stands in a particular circumstance or in one’s relationship and perhaps is at risk of losing their job or home can result with the ground always falling away underneath. Falling also may suggest reckless behavior. Falling dreams may be a wake-up call of reckless behavior or poor decisions. A continuation of walking in the wrong path of one’s life can make one hit rock bottom. Falling in your dream could be viewed as an analogy of your fall from grace. One is undergoing a transitional phase and is becoming more enlightened or spiritual. Big changes are ahead where one is making a new start and leaving the past behind.
