Looking into the minds of young girls and boys, superheroes is what many will find. The superheroes always having their trusty sidekicks and they will fight the evil villain to save the world. Many wonder how a superhero and a sidekick or a villian and their crazy friends actually work so well together, even though they're complete opposites. Well this is dramatic foil, a concept used by writers, comic creators, and screen writers to make the perfect duo. There is so many examples of dramatic foil. There's one in every play, book, comic, or story in general. Three great examples of dramatic foil are Will Herondale and Jem Carstairs from the Infernal Devices series; Harley Quinn and Joker from Batman; and Jace Herondale and Alec Lightwood from the Mortal Instruments series. These characters are the basis of a great foil. Will Herondale and Jem Carstairs are a great example of dramatic foil. First off, Will is an amazing fighter, tall, tan, dark black hair, blue eyes, muscular, and very good with the ladies. Jace is a blonde, firece fighter. Alec is a equally great fighter but he is more shy. Jace falls in love with the main character, Clary. Alec is in love with Jace even though shadowhunter traditions are highly against homosexual feelings. So there is this constant rivalry between Clary and Alec for Jace. Alec is a well built but secretive shadowhunter. Jace on the other hand is a outgoing, lady magnet fighter. They are opposing each other but they are great as a tag-team duo when it comes to fighting. Jace prefers a sword or sepreph blade, Alec is great with a bow and arrow. Jace also gets right into the fight, where Alec stands back for a little bit and acts as a second wave of fire power.
