Dr. Heidegger's Experiment written by Nathaniel Hawthorne in 1837 is a story about an experiment that resulted in the theme of this analogy which is you are blind when your eyes are closed. This analogy is related to learning or seeing you mistakes if you are motivated to do so. He develops the theme through the use of foreshadowing, imagery and climax/moral. You can't learn anything without the motivation to do so, is the theme of the story, it is portrayed by foreshadowing. Such is the lesson ye have taught me!"” these 2 quotes show opposite side of the argument on the theme. the first proves the theme because the 4 friends did not have the will to learn and fix their faults. While the second shows the want to learn and understand what faults could come and thus he fixes his fault of wanting to be young. The theme of you are blind when your eyes are closed is how many time throughout the story and it is used many times. The theme shows up in everyday life and blinds people everyday.
