During June of 2018, Donald Trump is president and was caught embezzling money for himself and his businesses by stealing money set aside for defense funds which include building a bigger wall between the United States and Mexico, and funding our overseas wars with the Middle East. He is facing potential impeachment and legal action should be he found guilty. Since taking presidency, Trump has taken advise from other more than he has in the past. In July, he issued a public apology to America. Good afternoon my fellow Americans. As most of you are aware, this previous week has been detrimental to all of us, here in this wonderful land of ours. Overall, my presidency has contributed huge amounts of progress to our social structure, and I have …show more content…
While we still have many issues we need to handle, I am here to tell you tonight that the rumors are completely true, and I am deeply sorry. I am not here to ask anything from you, but I am here to right this great wrong I have committed. I understand that there is no excuse for the deeds I’ve committed and I am ready to face any actions that arise from my misconduct. I have let myself down, I have let my investors down, but most importantly, I have let you down, America. I’m deeply sorry for hurting this country, and the trust of the very people that make it great. I know that you are angry, disappointed, and more due to my dumb behavior and you are absolutely right to feel that way, as I take full responsibility. I understand that there isn’t a right way for me fix any of this, but I will be returning every single dollar I had taken, and I will be donating part of my personal wealth to help those very people making our country safe and secure, and ensuring we all have our rights whole and intact. I will be reflecting for a long time on all of this in order to better myself constantly and help everyone. I hope eventually my actions can be forgiven, but I have come to recognize that not all of you will forgive
“I am certain that my fellow Americans expect that on my induction into the Presidency I will address them with a candor and a decision which the present situation of our people impel. This is preeminently the time to speak the truth, the whole truth, frankly and boldly.”
President Obama’s Address to the nation was presented on January 5, 2016. His speech was shown on all of the major network stations. The main goal of his speech was to get the point across to the nation about the increasing problem of gun use. His speech really focused on the issue of gun control and if it would benefit the country. Overall, the biggest idea of his Address was that gun control is a large issue in the United States. The way to prevent deaths caused by firearms can be prevented in other ways than taking peoples guns away. The examples brought up in this Address really stood out to me. The use of personal, national, and global examples really made his speech stronger on the topic of effectiveness.
Before I begin, I'd like to thank the person who made it possible for me to be here with you all today. President Bill Clinton. By scheduling his trip to Moscow just so, I had enough of a pause between my trips to Japan and Oklahoma city and Russia that it was possible to make it to Hartford today.
In the early morning of June 17, 1972, five burglars were caught at the Democratic National Committee headquarters at the Watergate complex. The Watergate break-in led to investigation by the Senate Watergate Committee and eventually revealed President Nixon’s involvement in the Watergate scandal from the beginning. Watergate scandal proved that the president was not above the law. Based on our study, it was my contention that pardoning President Nixon was most beneficial for the country in order to move forward and focus on economic problems.
One of the alarming times in American history came directly after August 9, 1974 when President Richard Nixon was forced to resign by the United States Congress. Nixon had been convicted for secretly recording every conversation he ever had in the White House, whether in person or on the telephone, and for the discovery of his involvement behind the Watergate complex break-in. Although considered a victory for the Constitutional government of the United States, Richard Nixon’s resignation for the crimes of the Watergate Scandal of 1972 brought an inadvertent consequence for the American people of a growing lack of faith and cynicism for the government and the office of the president.
Recently, many people have fallen victim to the newest president’s rhetoric. One of the main reasons behind many Americans voting for Donald Trump was because he promised to repeal and replace The Affordable Care Act (ACA) with something better. Now that he has been elected president, his party has ironically introduced a plan similar to the ACA, but instead of providing more affordable healthcare to the majority of the population (low to mid-income people), it cuts taxes for the minority of the population (high-income people) and reduces the affordability of healthcare, effectively creating a worse version of the original. This goes against Donald Trump’s promise of “insurance for everybody”. The Bay Area News Group newspaper and the Huffington
A president’s ability to convey his message to the people is vital to his success. President Barack Obama and President Donald Trump have both used their speeches, social media, and interactions with the media to connect with their bases and respond to current events; however, the rhetorical styles they use to do these things are vastly different. During their campaigns, Trump and Obama used power rhetoric to help them succeed in their respective races. Their rhetoric styles have been on display when they address the country in times of conflict. These two presidents have shown that, despite their difference in rhetorical style, they both know how to excite their base.
For my English 1101 class last semester, I studied “Presidential Rhetoric” which was particularly interesting because the timing ran parallel with the Presidential Election in the United States. The election outcome showed a victory for Republicans as their candidate, Donald Trump, became the 45th President of the United States. For many, this result was devastating because of the possible negative implications for minorities in terms of race, gender, and sexuality based on many of Trump’s comments. As somebody who is particularly interested in social justice, taking an English class based around race, gender, and sexuality would benefit me by becoming more educated about the implications facing these communities due to the election’s outcome.
“The establishment protected itself, but not the citizens of our country. Their victories have not been your victories. Their triumphs have not been your triumphs and, while they celebrated in our nation’s capital, there was little to celebrate for struggling families all across our land.” Trump displays a sense of appeal to emotion here trying to persuade the audience to realize, an ongoing situation making us aware of the cruelties around us. Not mentioning any evidence behind this, but believes he can make the change.
In early 1974, the cover-up began to fall apart. On March 1, a very special and important jury appointed by a new special prosecutor indicted seven of Nixon’s former aides on various charges related to the Watergate affair. The jury, not sure if they could accuse a president, called Nixon an “unindicted co-conspirator.” In July, the Supreme Court ordered Nixon to turn over the tapes. As Nixon took a long time to “try and recover all the tapes,” the House of Representatives voted to impeach him for obstruction of justice, abuse of power, criminal cover-up and violations of the Constitution. After all that, on August 5, Nixon released the tapes, which gave sure evidence of his involvement in Watergate. In the face of impeachment by the Senate, Richard Nixon became the only president to resign on August 8th. Six weeks after the new president, Gerald R. Ford, was sworn in, he immediately pardoned Nixon of any and all crimes he committed while in the office. Most of Nixon’s helpers weren’t as lucky as him. Most were convicted of very serious crimes and sent to federal prisons. Surprisingly, Nixon himself never said that he did anything wrong, besides using poor judgement. This sequence of events led to political turmoil, creating an atmosphere of uncertainty about the
FriFriends, delegates and fellow Americans: I humbly and gratefully accept your nomination for the presidency of the United States.
Soon after Donald Trump became the President of the United States, he made the call to cut the federal funding for organizations that provide women with abortion services. Interestingly, the debate about whether or not abortions should be legal has been going on for numerous years and the argument has always been between a woman’s right to her own body and an unborn child’s right to live a life. As no conclusion has been reached, GOP initiatives have consistently been trying to get rid of funding for places such as Planned Parenthood in order to force them into a decision they do not want to make. And finally Donald Trump has laid down the law so to speak and has taken away the funding for preventive health care, birth control, pregnancy tests and many other services women’s
Before I begin, I would like to tender my thanks to all of the people who have come here tonight. I would also like to apologize for what may seem an unorthodox speech, but I feel so strongly, that I must speak.
There have been over 42,000 gun violence incidents in the United States, resulting in nearly 11,000 deaths (Gun). For a long time the Second Amendment has been up for debate, even though it is one of the rights the Founding Fathers put in place. Back when Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson decided upon that right, guns were not as complex and powerful as they are today. With such advancements, does this amendment need to be reevaluated? When it is time for a new president to be elected, one of the first questions asked by the press is what their position is on gun control. Many people are passionate about this topic and they typically take one of two sides. They either get highly offended about the thought of the government taking away
