“To never know the love of a dog is to miss the best thing life has to give.” –Anonymous I find warmth and comfort in animals, particularly dogs. In July 2011, my family decided to adopt another dog into our family. Our other dog, Bella, was lonely and needed a companion. We discovered a place in Battle Creek that had puppies available for adoption. Throughout the drive there, I was not nervous or anxious as one may expect. I was thrilled and could not wait for what was to come. We never had a puppy in our family before, only dogs of nine months or older. I discerned it would be a challenge and it would take hard work to train him or her. After the elongated drive to Battle Creek, my parents, my older brother, Zack, and I were introduced
Call to Action: Challenge your audience to be a responsible pet consumer and not purchase dogs from pet stores or from the Internet. I encourage you to instead, adopt from their local animal shelter. At an animal shelter, you can find many amazing, healthy animals. If you do buy from a breeder, use extreme caution and ask to see the puppy’s parents. Also, please contact your congressional representative and encourage him or her to help pass the PUPS bill.
Faye is fighting to re-home animals that have been abandoned and abused. Since 2012 she has re-homed more than 60 dogs, and about 20 kittens. Faye says, “I would do anything no matter what to save one animal.” It’s as if her whole entire life revolves around saving animals. Faye thinks just by adopting an animal you can help animal abandonment. Also, Faye has her own book on why animal abandonment isn’t good. Although Faye thinks her job is stressful, she thinks it’s easy because she enjoys doing her job and helping animals find a home.
I am a lover of dogs and what I chose my topic about was dogs. I have three dogs I love them to pieces. Dogs have so much history from all the different breeds to how they came to be. They are very interesting from their head to their feet. Today I will tell you fun facts to old ancient, let’s begin!
I. A few years from now you might be living in off campus housing or you have graduated college living life more on your own in an apartment or house.
Owning a pet can sometimes have both jovial and tragic feelings. I remembered when I had to experience this phase in my life. When I was six, my parents bought an infant German Shepard, which was a great moment in my life. My brother and I were thrilled because it was the first time having a mascot in the household. Unfortunately, the excitement was short-lived as the German Shepherd was compressed while my parents were parking in the driveway.
Thesis Statement: While most owners are aware of the amount of joy and laughter dogs bring to them and their family, they are unaware that their dogs love them unconditionally and can help them have better lives
Dog sitters are people who take care of pet dogs and they are the new need. A lot of people love dogs and prefer dogs as their pets over cats because dogs are loyal and faithful animals. Dog walking and dog sitting are becoming very popular these days and they are well paid jobs. If you can treat a dog like a family then you can earn more than 1000 bucks a month. If you already have a job but you want to do another errand to have some extra revenue then this job could be perfect for you.
I. As one might ask, “How much is that doggie in the window?” Dogs have always
They say that a dog is a man’s best fried, but they don’t tell you about the overall cost, responsibility, or convenience about adopting one. Dogs are supposed to bring so much joy to a household, but sometimes they can only fill a void for a short amount of time. When a dog owner buys a dog, do they actually research the things that they are about to get in to? When I bought my dog, Skye, I never really looked into is issues; I just looked at the benefits. I love Skye to death, and I guess I could say that she also loves me to death. Even though someone rescuing a dog may think they are doing something great; they are causing an issue on how they will forever live their life.
The day Mom got Sugar was somewhat frightening for me. Obviously, I wanted nothing to do with the dog, I never planned to be in the same room as the dog, much less, take care of the dog. After all, Mom was supposed to take care of the dog. Slowly, I fell in love with her. She looked stern and loving. Her warm, brown eyes and pearly white smile only helped me fall in love with her. Not long after that I started to enjoy her company. Sugar was a loyal dog, she wanted to please everyone. When we went for a walk Sugar would come with us. We kept her on a leash, yet she never strayed from us.
The owner is embarrassed but the dog has no clue that he or she is being rude or impolite because they have not had the proper training. Many people, even those that are dog lovers tend to think that their dog will magically learn their manners as they grow and are astounded when they do not. Often dogs end up in shelters because of unruly behaviors because the owner did not take the time to train the dog properly.
As a kid, I fell in love with the idea of getting a puppy for Christmas. Wrapped in a small box with a bow on top sitting under the tree just like the movies and tv shows I had seen. I can remember making a Christmas list of all the things I wanted that year, and every year the same thing that I wanted had said “puppy” with it underlined so that my mother knew which was my favorite on the list. Every year no surprise, I didn’t find a dog. I never understood why I never received one. When the kids at school talked about the few dogs they had at home made me so jealous, but I hoped that one day it would be me to have my own best friend at home.
Six months ago I decided that I needed an animal companion. I did a lot of research about Maltese dogs. I looked through the internet to learn if that was the right dog for me. After I was done with my research about Maltese, I looked through newspaper ads and visited the animal shelter to see if I could find one. I came upon an ad in the newspaper for some six month old Maltese puppies, which a lady was selling.
As the sun came into view, I rushed out of bed and into the living room. My dogs followed me like a pack of wolves. I immediately lead them outside the back door where there is a fenced area, so they could use the restroom. Once they finished their business outside; they ran up the stairs and into the house. Sometimes my dogs are excessively loud with their mouths. Whenever they are out of dog food or need more water they let me know by barking. It is one of their ways of communication. The way they stare into my eyes with joy is another form of communication. Taking care of a dog is not difficult; however, they do take immense responsibility. Now that I know how much responsibility it takes to own a dog, I can use it in the future.
Dogs are wonderful creatures. They are loyal, dependable companions if given the opportunity. In recent years I have come to the opinion that we could learn something from these animals. We should also take a look at the manner in which they are being treated. Abandonment, irresponsible breeding, and neglect are only some of the ways that humans are failing the canine species.
