Within early childhood services, educators have begun to incorporate technology into their programs, due to the range of technology resources that are now available. Some may see technology as a benefit to the centre where they are able to use it for the children’s development, as a teaching tool and for children who may have additional needs, although not everyone will see it this way some may consider that technology can have a negative impact on the child’s physical health this could range from obesity, poor sleep and impact on their social skills. When using technology there should always be a balance between screen time and outdoor play for all children, this promotes a healthy lifestyle for children demonstrating that they are able to use technology and also go outdoors.

Technology assists children with their development at home and in centers it provides a range of uses where children are able to learn through creating, discovering, improvising and imagining.
