Rap group $UicideBoy$ have gotten a bad rap because of their dark and violent lyrics, such as “stalker creepin' out the dungeon... thirty rounds off the clip off rip bet I won't miss." The rapper is speaking about his mental health and the dark thoughts it can give you and he is a product of his environment growing up around guns, drugs, violence, and being stabbed at 12 years old. Rap has gotten a very negative rap sheet since rap is the punching bag for controversy. Rap has gotten from good to bad to worse. So, does rap cause violence in today's youth? First of all, rap has changed drastically over the years. One of today's biggest rappers is 21 Savage, he is a great example of how a rapper can negatively affect the youth. Most of his lyrics mention violence, and murder, and using derogatory terms towards women. 21 Savage often talks about killing people if he doesn’t like you. Its music like this that gives our youth the wrong idea of how to live life because that is the rappers reality not the youth’s reality. That makes the youth think that it's okay to rob or "gang bang" because their favorite rappers do it. The fact that people call 21 Savage too aggressive or violent they still play his music on the radio and in convenience stores or shopping malls. They are basically giving him publicity and getting his music out to a broader audience and allowing him to influence more people. These are big influences because they catch young people’s eyes with their flashy clothing, cocky slang, and the way they flash their money, it is candy to young people minds they become instant idols. We have no one else to blame but ourselves when the youth act out because we idolize the violent rappers
