One of the short stories from our assigned readings in which I was interested in was "Do Not Disturb." Within this short story there was a couple whose relationship was displayed as coming to an end. As I read the story I tried figuring out why things were so bad between them both and began focusing on how well or bad they communicated to each other. I noticed that it wasn't in the best of shape. As I began to let my mind wonder I landed on thinking about how the relationship between people and technology has become a popular subject over the past few years, on the subject of how it has effected the way we communicate and interact. With the creation phones and wireless phones, it makes it easier to call out for help as soon as an incident has taken place or before. Many lives are saved just by dialing 9-1-1 and receiving help soon after the call has been placed. Some people who have a home landline can just call without having to say anything and because of technology, the authorities have a gps track on where the call was made from which has saved numerous of lives over time. The most interesting piece of information I came across recently on how a woman's life was saved because of a call she made faking to place an order for pizza. The woman was in trouble and couldn't call the police because the person causing danger was in the same room as her. She called dialed 9-1-1 and asked to place an order for pizza, and the dispatch person informed her she called 9-1-1. The woman clarified that she knows who she called and asked how long until her pizza arrived casually and soon after she was rescued. Moments like those are what make technology such a beautiful
