Diya Patel, 2015 middle level representative and eighth grader at Brooklawn Middle School has strong opinions on the United States politics. She dreams to soon become involved in politics and be a future president. “After watching Obama’s campaign and listening to his State of the Union’s, I knew I wanted to become president.” she says. Diya was born in Parsippany NJ and has lived here all her life. She is involved in many activities that include being on the Brooklawn Middle School student council and a middle level representative for the “New Jersey Associations of Student Council” (NJASC). Patel also volunteers at a nursing home and is planning to start a charity for education and supply books and technology in third world countries. Her sister, Kanishka Patel is very proud of her as well. “Diya has been a great role model for me, and I know that she will be an amazing future president.” Kanishka states. Kanishka also mentions how Diya has helped her make important decisions throughout her life. One of Diya’s friends Sanya Mehta talks about Diya inspiring her to run for student council as well. “Diya has helped me every step of my school’s election, and without her help I would have never become the Secretary at my school” Sanya says. Most people have supported her throughout her journey, but a few others used to tell her she could never do it. However Patel never gave up, no matter what people have said about her either to her face or behind her back. Patel says that she told herself not to listen to others over and over again and it helped her get through big challenges. “I was bullied all throughout 7th grade,” Patel says, “The school administration was involved and it was a big
