1. Science fiction movies in the 1950s tended to be less concerned with what's "out there" than what was going on in American society (social commentary). How does the film portray American society in the 1950s? How is it different than today? Which institutions does the film focus on? Which succeed and which fail?

This film portrays the American society in 1950s during the cold war and examines Christianity religious significance. The film shows American society has paranoia that portrays by the lacking of trust of Klaatu. Today, the Science fiction movies are different than the 1950s film. Today movies focus on technology, women’s roles, and civil right more than religious power. We can see the technology in the movies in our real lives after several years not like the 1950s movies. The institutions in this movie focus on religion and make similarity between Klaatu and Jesus. This movie succeeds to send massage about ending violence and spreading the paces around the world or planet. On the other hand, the movie fails on using religious significances.
