The political socialization is life long process where a person develop their attitudes, values, and beliefs about politics. Usually, political socialization develops during childhood and is influenced by schools, friends, family, religion, and media. Examples of agents of political socializations are life experiences, education, geography, race and ethnicity and gender.
Life experience is important for forming political socialization, because it has the major impact and influences from family and friends can have an impact our political views. Both negative and positive impact can occur due to economic status and employment. It can influence how people vote depending on their view of economic status have been impacted by political policy. During this era Republicans were dominated and this era was known as the Progressive Era and reform Era. People had more control over their choices of candidates because of the Primary Election System.
The fifth era was from 1932 to 1960 which was dominated by Democratic party. During this time there was still the Great Depression, but FDR’s social welfare program which were known as New Deal, were trying to help citizens get jobs and trying to strengthen the country. In addition, FDR would lead the nation through the Second World War and his vice president would lead through the Korean Conflict and the beginning of the cold war.
Last but not least, the sixth era started in 1960 and still in progress. This era was all about anti-crime, anti-communist movement, and civil and foreign policy issues. Socialization is the term used to refer to the process of inheriting and circulating norms, customs and ideologies, providing an individual with the skills and habits necessary for participating within his or her own society. Socialization is in short the means by which social and cultural continuity is gotten. Ricky and Lafayette and four other boys make up their own gang called the four corner hustlers. (218) the environment in which the boys live in is starting to influence their lives because they feel they have to survive, and joining gangs would help them blend in.

The progressive era was a time of reform from the late nineteenth century until the end of World War I. During the progressive era the way the public looked at consumer safety was greatly affected. The people wanted to stop government corruption and end women’s suffrage. The progressive era also limited the consumption of alcohol while doing some major conservation. The progressive era was a very productive and affective time for America because the people demanded consumer safety, an end to government corruption, and women a right to vote while limiting alcohol use and conserving the environment.
Overall, politics are key in determining whether this era was predominantly liberal or conservative as well as economic and social reforms. On an aside, conservatism can be defined as a political philosophy based upon tradition and social stability while liberalism can be defined in two ways. Modern Liberalism emphasizes liberty and rights but, believes in strong government intervention in order to prevent the growth of a capitalist society, while classical liberalism advocates liberty and the autonomy of the individual. With these definitions given it can be concluded that the progressive era promoted change as well as government intervention to prevent capitalism from spreading and the autonomy of the individual. In conclusion, for the most part the Progressive Era from 1901-1907 was a triumph for modern and classical liberalism.
The Progressive Era took great strides during the early 1900s, however, limits will always be prevalent. Change enforced from a national level was, for the most part, successful and brought the United States much closer to the time today. Progressives were mainly members of the Post-Civil War generation that made an attempt to master a world much different then that of their parents.
Throughout the world there are many diverse political cultures. A political culture is the attitudes, beliefs or practices among a group of likeminded individuals.(Giardino pg. 27) There are different categories that embrace a political culture like an Individualistic, traditionalistic and moralistic. An individualistic culture is one that prefers less government involvement. The traditionalistic culture maintains government as the social and economic hierarchy and does not like change. The moralistic culture favors public good and it revolves around social issues. Demographics such as population size, growth, distribution and diversity among other factors are what shape its political culture.
A lot of things have played a role in my personal political socialization. Political ideology is the places where you have informed your beliefs from. The first example of where I get my personal political socialization is from my family. Second I have influence from my location in the U.S.A. Finally I get influence from Narragansett High School which is the school I currently attend. That is where I received my personal political socialization from.

This era included many social and political reforms, which were brought about due to monopolies, and trust corporations.
Before the Progressive era, the Gilded Age was the era that came first. During the Gilded Age, it transformed an agrarian society into an urban society that was predominantly industrial corporations. Although the Gilded Age may have appeared to be a time of economic expansion, behind closed doors, it was evident that corruption, scandal, and a terrible leadership tainted the Gilded Age. After the death of President William McKinley in September 1901, the Gilded Age had come to an end and had been replaced with a new system of political and social thought: progressivism. This essay will discuss what is socialisation, and explain two agents of socialisation, which is primary socialisation and secondary socialisation and what the positives and negatives about the socialisations are and analyse. To start off what is socialisation, socialisation is where the process of learning of the culture of any society. (Browne 2006) which means that when you are born you are learning and learn your culture of living, language, beliefs, norms and values, defying what sex you are means you learn differently to each other you both are equal but have different norms and values of being a girl or a boy. This gets passed through generation to generation. Socialisation has a big part of defining who we are and what we do in our life, and help form our personalities. This helps us form an individual identity that we tell people, this can be helped from family, friends, school, work, the mass media. So primary socialisation will include being taught norms and values from early child hood years which is assisted by agents like the family or people that are close to you. Socialization is the process of passing down norms, customs, and ideologies that are important to the society by the previous generations to the younger generations. The school system is a social agency that was created to enhance the processes of socialization through education. The importance of school as an agent of socialization can be best explained by the amount of time students spend in school and in activities happen around school. The manifest functions of school are to educate students the social norms, and the knowledge and skills that help them become economically productive in order to benefit the society. But students not only learn from the academic curriculum but they also benefit from socialize with their teachers and peers.
