One of the required courses I had to take this semester at Wayne State University was English 3010 (Intermediate Writing), which basically forced on discourse community. When it comes to writing, there are no complications in understanding what needed to be done in terms of when it’s time for me to write a paper. Although I am a decent writer, I hate the process of writing especially when it requires the paper to be more than six pages. This class actually was quite a challenge; however, I do believe it push me to be a better writer. . A discourse community survives by giving its members feedback and information, which can be used for various things. Most discourse communities do have expectations of their members enforced by their genres; including communication and acting appropriately

Each project was built upon the last project which allow us to be exposed to new aspects of writing and presenting in a more challenging way. Furthermore, we could pick our own topics which made the process of completing each project slightly easier. For example, in project one we were responsible for identifying the disciplinary or professional discourse community that we wish to enter and I choose business. In the first project, I learned that my discourse community common goal was to make a profit and one of the ways they communicate with each other is with numbers. During this project, I could take advantage of different resources such as interviewing professional in this field, using peer review and scholar articles from Wayne State University library database, and etc. I believe the main point of these projects was to provide us (the students/readers) with more information on what a discourse community is because project two builds off the work of Project one, however, we had to read, identify, analyze, and reflect on two peer-reviewed journal articles based off our
