As the result, due to the difference between the north and south. They north and south viewed each other differently as two different kind of people. Stephen Douglas explained that the view of southern plantation owners (document 5). They believed the laws fit the northern, not the southern. Therefore, they made their own rules and treated themselves as individual nation which then turned into the confederacy. For instance, it allows slaves to be set free, it showed people that John Brown in Document 6 was a slave and therefore he wanted to free slaves by force because he believed that it wasn’t right. As for Frederick Douglass he believed that John Brown was the cause the civil war because he ran away from his master to carrying he's fight for slavery. As result, in document 7 the federal union agreed with Lincoln because he goes on explain that even though the north and south are divided they still have to listen to them to their and agreed with them. For example, the federal union gives an example about the nation dividing and he agrees with Lincoln that the nation can’t be divided into the free and slave states because it would could cause more slavery issues then it has already cause.
