For the second assignment I decided to go with the year 1960, this is when the election was with John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon. After viewing each party's platform and deciding whether or not that there is a difference in each of the party’s platform, I am go to have to say yes there is a major difference in the two. So therefore I disagree with observers that say there is no difference between the two of them. For them to say that there is no difference in the platform is pretty much saying that there is no difference in the party’s. The election of 1912 signified a turning point in American history. Friends, Theodore Roosevelt and William Howard Taft, competed against each other for the presidency. Though both progressive, they disagreed on how the country needed to run. Roosevelts ever increasing progressivism caused their stances on many important issues to be much different. Although, they did have some points on which they agreed. In what ways were Roosevelt 's and Taft 's stances on progressivism similar, and different?
8.In order for political success, both sides of the political spectrum must be critically examined in order to omit mistakes and for cultural advancement. Over two hundred years of United States politics have seen many changes. The names of parties may have changed, but the bi-partisan feature of the party-system has not. Republicans and Democrats are our two major partisan groups in present day America. Sometimes there are disagreement amongst party members that lead to dispute and a less concentrated effort. That is the beauty of a democracy, everyone is allowed to put their two cents worth in.
President Franklin D. Roosevelt is commonly identified as a liberal and President Herbert C. Hoover as a conservative. The validity of these characterizations, however, is conditional upon the definition of these labels. If one adopts the most conventional contemporary definitions of the terms “liberal” and “conversative,” then the characterizations of Roosevelt as a liberal and Hoover as a conservative are valid, but the definitions of liberal and conservative vary and change over time and place.
As stated above, the party’s doctrine was based on more than three ideologies. The Democratic-Republicans called for extensive radicalism and nationalism. They dreamt about the country made of people with radical views who knew their rights. Their procedures are very democratic, fair, and transparent.
A party’s platform is its official statement of beliefs and values. These platforms established from the view of a party such as Republic Party and Democrat Party. They have their own platforms to create their views on an issue. However, if the Democrat Party has their notions, Republican Party is not inherently related based on their true definitions. There are some similarities and differences between Republican Party and Democrat Party.
There have been many different parties surface since the beginning of the American political system. They all have had different thoughts, policies, and motivations. Each party has their own agenda some have made significant contributions and others have not. The first split, and beginning of the party system, came with the variation between the Federalists and the Democratic Republicans. These two parties were extremely different in thought, strategies, and status of people involved such as their leaders and believes on how to run the government. The Federalists worked to create a stronger national government, supported British in foreign affairs, and favored a national bank. The Democratic-Republican Party operated to advocate states’ rights, supported the French in foreign affairs and opposed a national bank. These are some of the differences that set apart these two major government Parties.
Foreign policy is another major topic that Democrats and Republicans have strong views about. In a situation where the military may be required, Democrats approve of targeted strikes and the restriction of manpower. Republicans approve of a more intense military with more soldiers.
