Question arises about whether or not communication with animals is dialogic or monologic. Majority of society would probably think animals cannot communicate with us, generating the assumption that the connection is dialogic. However, that theory is incorrect for several different reasons. Dogs, for example, communicate with their owners with every movement and noise they make. Moping, sniffing, and watching are all examples of how dogs communicate with us non-verbally. They also communicate with us verbally by barking and crying. Animals obviously do not speak the same language as us so they use their body language to send us messages. Communication is very closely related to social behavior since they are both referring to the ways animals interact with each other (Quiatt and Reynolds 1993). Non-human primates and human primates are similar in many ways, and communication is no exception.
Communication is used throughout every primate and animal and it includes any behaviors, scents, and autonomic responses. Communication is used to indicate submission, reassurance, or amicable intentions. Vocalizations are used as a form of communication to inform others of predator or food presence. Social living would not be possible without communication.
Many students think their general education classes are going to be easy. This assumption is usually made because they are the basis of all of the advanced classes. When students sign up for classes for their degree, English 101 is often a requirement. Therefore, students put it on their schedule without a second thought. Most students do not realize how hard such a basic class could be. Social behavior in mammals other than humans has always been something that has fascinated not only scientists, but the general population as well. Large mammals known to exhibit similar behaviors to humans have always been popular favorites at zoos and aquariums. Curiosity and fascination strikes when observing primates making gestures as if communicating in a foreign language, or seals dancing and striking their flippers together. This can be done by various means, by the use of body language, noise, or smell. Nearly all mammals use these tactics to communicate; with one another, and with humans doing so both verbally and silently. The music of the mammals, whether it is auditory, chemical, visual, or physical interactions, animals have found a way to communicate using foreign languages.
Today in America, personal ambition serves the common good. Motivates successful individuals drive social and economic progress and set strong examples for others. In order to help the common good, the common good must first help themselves. Instead of relying on others and the government for assistance, we should all reflect on ourselves and see what we can do for ourselves. If everyone helped themselves no one would need to be helped. Reliance on others is a huge problem with in our society, including a reliance on the government, other citizens and technology, and a reliance on others to help us achieve everyday activities. If we all tried self helping ourselves the world would be a much better place.
