The Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ was the name of the church I attended during the last couple of weeks. It was my friends’ church that was located in Brazil, Indiana. It was a fairly small church compared to other churches I have been to. It was a primarily black church with a few other races that attended also. This church had a guy drumming during every song that was song. I found this church to be very different from the ones we discussed in class. This church service was interesting to me because the worship service was charismatic and it inspired many that were in the church at the time. During the time we spent in class talking about the culture of churches, one thing that stood out to me was that no one caught the Holy Ghost like we watched in the video in class. While everyone was singing along to the song, there was an offertory available to anyone willing to offer for the church. An offering is an offering or collection of money made at a religious service. Many people came up and put money in the basket. Basically the money they get from the offerings can be used toward supporting the church or even be given to charity. They had the drummer come up and play during the songs. The drummer looked like he didn’t really want to be there, but he was doing a good job of stay along with the song. During the sermon Pastor Orkmon has a unique type of preaching style he uses. He is more of an exhorter type of preacher. Exhorter preaching style is a highly animated and really based off the scriptures that wants people to make some life changes. I believe that he is an exhorter type of preacher because one of the characteristics of being exhorter is preaching for a decision and I feel like Pastor Orkmon is doing that. He wants the people in the church to act on some of the words he said in the scripture. He also had Brother Brown read from Psalm 85: 6-8. It
