What does it take for a certain place to make a person happy? That is too broad of a question, because everyone has different wants, needs, and desires in life. It doesn’t take a lot to make me happy; but I couldn’t have gotten any luckier. My childhood home was prime for a little adventurous go-getter, like me. Growing up, I lived in this beautiful wooden cabin, it looked like something from a kid’s dream. Miles of fields and woods behind our quaint little home, it was perfect! My grandfather built the house in 1982 and most of my family lived in the log house, at one time or another. Whether it be my aunts, my uncles, or cousins we all lived there. That house is such a big part of my family; everyone in my family has some unforgettable memory there. My mom broke her collar bone there, three separate times. My uncle had his second wedding there, that’s where I learned to ride a four wheeler, it was the first house I lived in! That was the most influential time and place of my life; not only because of how young I was, but because of everything I got to experience while I was living there. It was a constant world of wonder, especially though my childish eyes. The house itself felt …show more content…
Which in some cases is way better than actually leaving. I grew up there, that house is in about 99% of my childhood memories. That house is really sentimental to me and my family. We have all been there for so many years, and that house holds some of our families’ happiest moments, along with the saddest ones. The experiences I had in that house shaped me into the person I am today. I learned how to patient, calm, and I learned about who I am and what I wanted in life. That place helped me find my passion for animals, which will hopefully one day be incorporated into my career and future. Nothing will replace that house and everything it had to offer my family and
Peanut dust in the air, shells on the ground, country music blaring overhead, and workers dancing around, Texas Roadhouse is known not only for its delectably delicious food, but also its friendly environment and excellent customer service. It is a restaurant I would definitely recommend to people of all kinds from those looking for somewhere to hang out with friends to a family looking for somewhere to celebrate a birthday or other special occasion or even two people looking for a place to have a casual second or third date. Texas Roadhouse is a popular restaurant, so our small wait (no more than 15 minutes) was nothing to be disappointed about. We got to enjoy the restaurant’s simple wooded look with a variety of wall décor representing Virginia schools. We also got to participate in their traditional birthday “YEE HAW” celebration twice while waiting.
Happy is a documentary that brings to light the different types of livings of people around the world and contrasts how they define happiness. The movie starts out in Kolkata Slum, India, with a man Manoj Singh. Manoj is living a relatively impoverished life. His house isn’t the best, in fact the roof is just a tarp however he says “my home is good.” Manoj is quite happy with his life and it’s not because of his minimal possessions but the community around him. His happiness lies in the fact that he can see his son smiling every day and he is so grateful for his neighbors and friends. He even states himself that he doesn’t consider himself as “poor but the richest person.” Manoj’s happiness is described as the same as the average American.
When you think of home, most of the time thoughts of love, warmth and family come to mind. Although a drab exterior , it is no difference for the thousands of people who reside in the Robert Taylor Homes on the Southside
“Home is where the heart is.” In The House on Mango Street, Sandra Cisneros develops this famous statement to depict what a “home” really represents. What is a home? Is it a house with four walls and a roof, the neighborhood of kids while growing up, or a unique Cleaver household where everything is perfect and no problems arise? According to Cisneros, we all have our own home with which we identify; however, we cannot always go back to the environment we once considered our dwelling place. The home, which is characterized by who we are, and determined by how we view ourselves, is what makes every individual unique. A home is a personality, a depiction of who we are inside and how we grow through our life experiences. In her personal, Cisneros depicts Esperanza Cordero’s coming-of-age through a series of vignettes about her family, neighborhood, and personalized dreams. Although the novel does not follow a traditional chronological pattern, a story emerges, nevertheless, of Esperanza’s search to discover the meaning of her life and her personal identity. The novel begins when the Cordero family moves into a new house, the first they have ever owned, on Mango Street in the Latino section of Chicago. Esperanza is disappointed by the “small and red” house “with tight steps in front and bricks crumbling in places” (5). It is not at all the dream-house her parents had always talked about, nor is it the house on a hill that Esperanza vows to one day own for herself. Despite its location in a rough neighborhood and difficult lifestyle, Mango Street is the place with which she identifies at this time in her life.
In the novel, The House on Mango Street, Sandra Cisneros describes the problems that Latino women face in a society that treats them as second class citizens. A society that is dominated by men, and a society that values women for what they look like, and not for what is on inside. In her Novel Cisneros wants us to envision the obstacles that Latino women must face everyday in order to be treated equally.
A lot of people wonder what true happiness really is if they will ever experience true happiness. If you ask a person, what is true happiness, everyone will have different happiness. True happiness is not only found in one place and it is not always found in the same place for everyone. In Fahrenheit 451 Montag thought that he was happy when in reality he was not even in love with Mildred and neither was he happy. This is proven when Clarisse puts the dandelion under his chin. True Happiness can be not worrying about anything and letting loose without a care in the world. It can also mean freedom, even spending time with loved ones and family.
My dwelling is not much, but it suits my needs, and out there I don’t need much. All I have is a chair to read in, a toilet under the tree outside, and a bed. I only have the necessities that I need to live. I build a fire every night for warmth and to cook my food. My house is just a cabin that can only fit me and my dog skip just the way that I want it. Flowers that make it look pretty and interesting surround my cabin. It’s something that’s cozy and something that I can just go to and think and be by myself and never have to worry about anybody or anything but my pets and myself.

If you ask anyone what home means to them more than likely you’ll get several different opinions. In my case home has never been a specific place it’s always been wherever my mom was! My Mother and I have been moving from place to place ever since I could remember.
While driving through Eastern Kentucky a person will notice many things, the beautiful mountains, small towns, local businesses, and of course houses. As in any place a person goes, the houses will vary from each other, but the houses in Eastern Kentucky will share one thing in common, a front porch. The odds of someone finding a house without a front porch in Eastern Kentucky are about the same as the odds of a person finding a house in the city with a front porch. Sitting on a front porch, watching the sun make its way down over the mountains and sharing stories of the events of your day is a regular routine for Eastern Kentuckians. A front porch isn’t just an accessory to a house, it’s a place filled with stories and memories that are only
Everyone has their own, personal place to have alone time and clear their heads. For me, that place is my bedroom in my apartment. My room is the one place where I feel most nostalgic and comfortable; its’ a comfort that can’t be replaced. My bedroom is my favorite room in my apartment because I always have my privacy there, and I feel like it shows my personal style, which I love.
Each year millions of dollars are spent on therapy because people want to re-live their childhood. These people discover late in life that childhood was the time period where the most meaningful parts of life were. Things from our past don't just fade away, they are part of us, and most people greatly miss them weather they know it or not. My most meaningful place is my parents' house because it is a symbol of reliving my childhood, indulging in good times, and just plain feeling at home.
A place, for me, is somewhere that I am familiar with and I recognize it in some way as my own special geographic location. It is somewhere I am emotionally attached to and it is a place that I wish to remain at. I personally feel that it has taken me years to achieve this particular comprehension about where for certain that place is for me in my life, and to make out why I feel a certain way about being within the walls of my own home. I have now come to realize that my home is where my heart will always truly be, because I believe it is the only place where I will always be loved without
As I approach the island on which my dream house awaits, I catch a quick
