Definition Essay: Why Do People Respond To Fear?

People are always wondering why humans are scared of things, or why we have fear. There are always things that make us feel fearful or scared. Humans are always questioning what actually causes all of this fear, is it even real? Humans respond physically to fear in order to trigger emotional responses to let the body know there is danger.

Fear can be defined in many ways. Psychology Today tells us that fear is defined as, “ Lessons learned by confronting an unexpected fear” (Niles). People are also told that fear is an emotion caused from danger, if the threat is real or imaginary (Dictionary.com). Although we as humans think fear is just being afraid of something, but it gets more scientific than that. Scientifically, fear is the distasteful emotional state that is linked to psychological responses that are experienced from serious external threats or danger. It is usually just all in our heads. It is all in our brains. The way we act and the way we respond to fear is all made up within our bodies. The metabolic functions in our organs change and make our bodies create and process fear. The Amygdala is made of matter, ‘ This causes us as humans to react to a threat or fear” ( Arkell-Inglis). People may be concerned that fear will never be able to be overcame by humans. However, people overcome their pointless fears everyday by learning how to get over what they are fearful to. Our organs are able to detect many emotions that can send signals to our brain and body that produce fear. The Limbic System catches the triggered emotions of fear and then triggers many attitudes. This makes us act the way people do when they are scared. Moreover fear is very interesting and scientific, but they also have to look at the factors of how to keep our bodies
