Have you ever wondered what makes a hero? Do you know what it takes to be a Hero? Maybe you think that you have to have some type of superpower to be a hero. Not all heroes have super powers. Martin Luther King Jr. didn’t have any superpowers, and he was still a hero. He helped end segregation. To be a Hero you have to be a fighter, not a giver upper. You have to have determination. A Hero isn’t one to lose dedication after one mistake. “A Hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles,” (Christopher Reeve).
The definition of a Hero is to not give up when you make a mistake, and will take time out of there life to help others. A hero is one who will try there hardest to make the earth a better place. Just picking up a piece of trash or donating a $1 to charity will make you a Hero. A Hero isn’t just someone with a cape that can fly, a hero is one who is determine to not give up and help others. A Hero will help others without thinking about about it, they already do it before they even know.

Not all heroes have to have superpowers to be a Hero. An example of a Hero who Does not have super powers is Bill Gates. You might be saying who is that, or how is he a Hero? Bill Gates is a hero, because he has took time out of his life to help charities and school programs. Another Example of a Hero is Deshaun Watson. Deshaun Watson is a quarterback for the Houston Texans. When hurricane Harvey was still going on he donated his first game check to the lunch ladies, who lost their homes in the hurricane. As pointed out here, Christopher Reeve says that it’s not the superpowers that make a hero a hero, but the wisdom and maturity. Even though heroes can’t always fly, they make up for the lack of superpowers by maintaining an optimistic attitude and always putting others before themselves. This means heroes could be anybody; your parents, neighbors, or strangers walking down the street. This is because a hero doesn't always need to be robust, just cordial with the mindset to change the world for the better.
In today’s contemporary world what is meant to be a hero is often mistaken by that portrayed in the media, through film and books. Far too often people think of heroes only as someone who risks there life to save another. But a hero is simply just someone who goes out of their way to do something for someone else and make a positive difference in their lives.

Many people think that a hero is a person who monitors the skies defeating all unwanted agitators that cross the threshold of our near perfect society. Many people think a hero needs to have superpowers, like incredible strength, supervision, or super speed, but on the contrary, a true hero is what we see in the readings, “Oh Captain! Who is Superman? He was a superhero because of his super powers, but you don’t have to have special powers to be a hero. Just doing something that would help people or something, can make you a hero. Andrew Jackson is a hero because he took money from National governments and gave it to the State government, he also gained land from the West, and he got America more land for farming. A hero could be anyone. A hero could be an ordinary person who has impacted someone or has inspired a change toward greatness in their life. A hero can be passive or active, famous or ordinary, rich or poor. What gives a hero a distinct similarities to other heroes and distinguish them from non heroes is their ability to influence others that they are extraordinary because of their means to overcome obstacles, defeated adversities, and still manage to be a leader, role model, or an admirable person within society.
In my opinion, a hero is someone whose principal purpose, whether it be in one situation or over the span of their entire life, is to help others while simultaneously making the world a better place. When the word hero is brought up, the most prevailing image that comes to mind is superheroes like Batman and Superman. But I don’t think you have to have superpowers or even be well known in order to be a hero. There are people all over the world whose intention is to do selfless deeds and go out of their way for others without expectation of obtaining anything in return. A hero could be anyone whose daily acts go unnoticed, and could never be heard. People spend their days doing these things without any notice the act of heroism. Heroes can be blind to the human eye but can be notice by the simple acts of strength and selflessness inside them. There are many qualities that people think a hero should have. To name a few of those qualities there is; courage, determination, focus, compassion, dedication, honesty, loyalty, responsibility, and wisdom. A hero is a person who cedes to benefit others. Through many complications that were faced they stood up with the greatest bravery. You also don’t have to kill anyone, conquer foreign land, or risk your life to be a hero. Anyone who influences anyone else by saving or helping save his or her lives is a hero. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. changed the lives of millions of people by bringing justice to minorities. Mahatma Gandhi, one of the greatest heroes, led a nonviolent revolution to free his country.
