Death Penalty
I. Introduction
Attention Graber: Everyone knows that in the United States killing is wrong and if you do kill you get punish for it. Holly Near an activist tells us “Why do we kill people who are killing people to show that killing people is wrong?”
Audience relevance: The United States is one Nation and that we believe that if you commit any crime you must be punished. If you commit a crime than you should be punish not murder. The death penalty is not a punishment. Also the Death Penalty is costing many of us money without even knowing.
Credibility: The day I saw in the news that a man was wrongly convicted to death row and was killed by lethal injection I started thinking what would have been if that was my father. The case has been stuck in my head because a man was wrongly convicted and there was nothing else they could have done because what was done was done.
Thesis: By understanding more about the Death Penalty you will have a better understanding why it should be revoked in the U.S.
Preview of main points: First I will informed you that people are wrongly getting convicted, secondly, I will tell you that the death penalty is murder and revenge. Finally I will informed you that the death penalty is costing you.
Transition to first main point: So first let’s talk about the first reason the death penalty should be revoked in the U.S.
II. Main Point 1: Imagine someone that has been accused of murder and sentenced to death row has to spend almost 17-20 years in jail and then one day get kill. Then later on the person that they killed was not the right person.
