Day of the Dead and Halloween are two holidays celebrated on October 1st,November 1st,and 3rd. Day of the Dead and Halloween share multiple similarities and differences.The three topics i'm going to talk about are food,clothes, and traditions.

Day of the Dead has interesting traditions. On November 2nd, the Day of the Dead, people celebrate their dead loved ones. They celebrate in the cemeteries,clean the headstones, decorate the sites with flowers, and bring music and food. The petals of a marigold native to Mexico are spread from the cemetery to the altar in the house so that they can find their way to the house. (Betteley,Pat.”La dia de los muertos”.) People who celebrate Day of the Dead dress up as skeletons.They paint their faces as the Catrina Skull.They do this for the Catrina Parade. Catrina stands for “Elegant Death”. Halloween is totally different. On Halloween people dress up as monsters and other scary things. People did this back in Celtic times because they believe spirits of the dead would would roam the Earth on that night.They apparently believed that them dressing up would scare them away.

The food on Day of the Dead and Halloween is very different.The people who celebrate Day of the Dead eat pan de muerto(bread of the dead). They also eat sugar skulls with the people that died names on them.The people who celebrate Halloween in the modern days have candy and other Halloween themed foods. In the Celts times poor people would go door to door and beg for money and food.

In conclusion while Day of the Dead and Halloween have somewhat similar traditions, they have a lot of differences. I explained a lot of the differences,but they are some similarities. I explained their food, clothing, and traditions. Overall the holidays have their own important
