Day of the Dead and Halloween are two holidays celebrated on October 1st,November 1st,and 3rd. Day of the Dead and Halloween share multiple similarities and differences.The three topics i'm going to talk about are food,clothes, and traditions.
Day of the Dead has interesting traditions. On November 2nd, the Day of the Dead, people celebrate their dead loved ones. They celebrate in the cemeteries,clean the headstones, decorate the sites with flowers, and bring music and food. People who celebrate Day of the Dead dress up as skeletons.They paint their faces as the Catrina Skull.They do this for the Catrina Parade. Catrina stands for “Elegant Death”. Halloween is totally different. On Halloween people dress up as monsters and other scary things. People did this back in Celtic times because they believe spirits of the dead would would roam the Earth on that night.They apparently believed that them dressing up would scare them away.
The food on Day of the Dead and Halloween is very different.The people who celebrate Day of the Dead eat pan de muerto(bread of the dead). They also eat sugar skulls with the people that died names on them.The people who celebrate Halloween in the modern days have candy and other Halloween themed foods. In the Celts times poor people would go door to door and beg for money and food.
In conclusion while Day of the Dead and Halloween have somewhat similar traditions, they have a lot of differences. I explained a lot of the differences,but they are some similarities. I explained their food, clothing, and traditions. Overall the holidays have their own important

It is a loving ritual, full of joy and remembrance. For those who did not grow up in a culture that celebrates such a celebration, these practices and rituals might seem odd. But bear in mind that in the US, it is common for people to visit the graves of their family members and friends who have left this earth, to leave flowers and to reconnect with their loved ones. Dia de los Muertos is similar to this common American practice, so you can see that the Day of the Dead is not that unusual. Dia de los Muertos allows the dead to live again. The infamous "Day of the Dead" or dia de los muertos actually takes place over a period of 2 days. It is the largest and most elaborate celebration in mexico all year long, its even bigger than Christmas. In the past, this period marked the time when the deceased could return to the world of the living and visit their loved ones, but now it is usually a time to celebrate, remember, and pray for their souls.

In the Hispanic culture, The Day of the Dead is a very special holiday celebrated in Hispanic communities. The Day of The Dead is a celebration that last two days. It occurs on November 1 and 2. On November 1, they have a celebration for the young. On November 2, they give honor to family members who have passed away. Traditionally they set up alters in their homes with pictures, candles, foods, and many other decorations. They believe this holiday connects them to their dead ancestors and allows the spirits to be welcomed back. Mexicans and Venezuelans celebrate Halloween very differently; to the extent, some Venezuelans do not even celebrate the holiday. Mexicans celebrates Day of the Dead instead of Halloween. During Day of the Dead, Mexicans build altars and fill it with desserts, tamales and candy for their passed loved ones, and decorate and clean their graves. These altars are made specifically as a welcoming to the loved ones who passed away. People are sometimes welcomed to visit other’s families’ altars and take part in any of the goodies or stories involved. Some Pueblos or communities, they gathered food from different altars and enjoy the food at their loved one’s grave. Halloween is around 2,000 years old and first originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain; The Celts had rituals to avoid ghosts coming to haunt them, including dressing up in terrifying costumes to scare the ghosts and get together to party on the evening of October 31st.
