The grunge movement stirred up controversy for the art world being classified as intimidating since the idea of ‘grunge’ is associated with graffiti, street-life and loud rebellious music. However, as soon as the media took an interest in this up and coming trend, they became eager to spread the word that ‘grunge’ was the new era, achieving attention of the public through advertisements, branding and magazines.
The goal is to look like you’ve seen everything, done everything, been everywhere. It’s an intimidating look, and the drug thing is a continuation of all that.
