Date Rape Drugs In College Campuses

Around college campuses there are many instances where women find themselves the victims of spiked drinks and sexual assault. On the weekends at parties, many women innocently drink without the intention of blacking out. However, “date rape” drugs have become more common making a horrible possibility, reality. Many women face the challenge of being drugged when going to party because of men who want to take advantage of women. At the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, a fraternity is being investigated on the suspicion of “date rape” drugs at one of their parties. A investigation started by the police after the hospitalization of three women and one man who had consumed drinks at the fraternity’s house party on September 12. Early in the morning on September 13, the police went into the TKE house and found 42 people underage, all with an “X” marked on their hands. Fraternity members marked guests’ hands with either a red or black “X” but did not explain what the different marks meant. The police have a warrant to search for drugs that cause

From a young age, girls are taught to be careful in these situations. Most women are told certain rules in order to be safe during these social settings. Women are told to not dress in a provocative way or act a certain way so that they do not give men the wrong impression. Some people feel that women who are smart and responsible should just sit at home in order to avoid possible social situations like these. Women who find themselves as victims in these situations are perceived as ignorant and that they were just asking for it.It is seen as the female’s responsibility to avoid situations where rape could occur and that it is too hard for drunken males to not rape women. Most people tend to show disgust and anger for the foolishness of these victims, but fail to show the same level of disgust and anger aimed at the individuals who devalue
