The life of Dante Alighieri; A Renaissance Man
Dante Alighieri, born as Durante Alighieri, was very talented and intelligent person who thrived in the time of the Renaissance. He is the the epitome of the of the “perfect renaissance man” who everyone strived to be like back in those times. You were considered to be the best when you were good at practically everything, in simple terms. Dante had a very well rounded education, he was a talented writer and poet, and he even studied the arts making him a completely “rounded” individual.

While this was perhaps a challenging time for Dante, one of his most famous works came out of the situation and this period is seen to be Dante’s most productive and fruitful period. This piece of work - that is said to be his greatest- is The Divine Comedy. However, another notable work was his book called Inferno. This book is about the circles of hell - a lot of it is very dark. Dante, with a sense of dark humor, put those responsible for his exile in this poem. “The pope, as well as countless other figures from Florentine politics, finds a place in the hell that Dante creates in Inferno—and an extremely unpleasant one” (Biography.com Editors). These two works, Inferno and The Divine Comedy, are just two of many great works of literature that come from Dante Alighieri. Dante Alighieri was more than just a Renaissance man, he was a poet, a man of literature, and a soldier. His works would leave an unerasable mark on Earth for centuries to come. This is true, still today as many people indulge in Dante’s works and yearn to learn more about this timeless poet. Dante’s legacy will undoubtedly thrive until the end of time, making him possibly one of the greatest poets of all recorded
