Dance Observation

Observing two different types of dance classes was extremely interesting. I was able to recognize the many differences and similarities between the rehearsal, and the regular dance class I observed. Even though the rehearsal and the regular class I observed were ballet; they were still very different from one another. The regular class I observed was Modern Dance 54. This class is not a beginner class nor an advance class. It is a course for dancers in the middle. People who have some type of experience in dance and want to get better. At first before attending the rehearsal and dance class I was not very interested in going. After going to the rehearsal I found it very interested and was excited to see the difference in a regular class.
I have never attended and observed a rehearsal sesion before of any kind. After going to my first one I was really impressed on how hard the dancers practice. Before attending the rehearsal I did not think I would be that engaged during the time I was there observing. It made me realize dance is as tough as a sport. One of these difference was that in the rehearsal the dancers each practiced on their own. They completely understood their parts in the dance, and were off to side of the stage mastering their each individual parts. Compared to the regular dance class the students were learning brand new dance movements and were following the instruction step by step. Another difference I noticed between these two classes was in the rehearsal class I noticed much more percussive moves. Compared to the regular dance class the moves were way more lyrical. Another difference I noticed was the choreographer in the rehearsal class was much more fast pace than the instructor in the regular dance class.
